We all need to send Ed Graney some Vinegar

Graney is worthless. So is the RJ. He should have saved his crap for a home game, to try and fire up & get more than 5,000 actual people to show up (that are not opposing fans). It always amazed me that they (UNLV) woudl announce something like 28,000 in attendance, when no more than 10,000 were actually physically there!

I read the the article and I don't think Graney is a douchebag. He's a good reporter that wrote a good article.

Right now, we DO stink. We haven't scored an offensive touchdown in 9 quarters and this Saturday, we will be giving an 18-year-old the ball to hand off to an 18 year-old and to pass to an 18-year-old.

You probably didn't recognize Graney's column as good sports journalism because we have to read the stuff by Gags and the Boomerang staff.

What he is saying, is that if UNLV finally wants to raise themselves out of the cesspool of the MWC basement, this game is one they just simply have to win. And he's right. If they lose to the Pokes, they are still a joke.

At this stage, Wyoming hasn't been pathetic long enough to have the lousy rep of UNLV and SDSU for being football Nancies. Yet -- as long as we keep them there.

I think if you write the same story from the other direction and we have to say that if Wyoming doesn't want to be in the cesspool basement of the MWC, the game against UNLV, at home, is one they HAVE to win. Why? Because UNLV stinks on the road in conference. We are trying to learn and rebuild. This is a game that can be the difference between a horrid season and an acceptable season.

Look down the road. Our last six games are against AF(away), BYU(home), Utah(away), SDSU(away), TCU(home), and CSU(away). I see one win against SDSU and who knows with CSU. The other 4? We need to get a lot better, FAST. So IF we win against UNLV, FAU, UNM and SDSU, that's a 5-win season. Drop any of those MWC games and we are dead last in the conference. Right now, UNLV has circled this as a game they think they can win. We have to circle the game as a game that we absolutely MUST win.

I don't like looking ahead because I have been burnt both ways on it. Interest wavered on a good 2006 team after a poor start, and devastation set in after 2005 and 2007 collapses down the stretch. BUT HERE I GO....if we don't win this weekend we would probably have to win at AFA (who other than BYU has our worst conf losing streak) or at Utah (on Halloween) to get to 6 wins. If we lose to UNLV it won't be the end of the season because I think they have the potential to end up 3rd in the conf, but based on what I saw in the CU game, I don't expect much on the road this season, it would look bad. Maybe we beat BYU and/or TCU at home, crazier things have happened!

And what the hell it Graney talking about?, WE didn't struggle to beat Weber St, we handled them and let them make it look closer than it was. CSU is the ones that were lucky to beat them!

I think Graney wrote a good article considering he writes for the Las Vegas paper! The problem is our local douche Ian St-whatever writes continuously to criticize our university and state!!

If the players get more motivated by Graney's article all the better.

HCDC commented on this article in his post game. It really seemed to piss him off. Sounds like they used it as motivation for the team. Again, can't wait to see what this douche has to say now!

When Christensen first took to the podium during the postgame media conference after the game, he did not hesitate to make a statement before taking questions:

“I’m going to start out by saying something that has been on my mind all week by a reporter by the name of Ed Graney in Las Vegas,” he said. “When talking about Laramie, Wyoming, he said, ‘a bland and bleak environment, that’s Laramie and you might swear you have come to the end of the world.’

“Well if you were in my locker room after that game, you might have thought you were at the end of the world,” Christensen continued. “We take that stuff personally.”

“(He also said), ‘here is this week’s moment: Wyoming stinks.’ And as Christensen threw his printout copy of the column to the side, he said, “Well, he stinks … let’s move on to you guys.”

I sent Mr Graney a quick e-mail post game telling him he owes UW an appology and that he was a dirtbag and here's his response.

"Much thanks for the email. I always enjoy intelligent and insightful perspective like yours.

Your words, few as they are, really paint Wyoming fans as both.

Here's the thing: If you are going to have an opinion on a column, it's much better to do so BEFORE the game and not AFTER the outcome has been decided. You see, when you begin talking trash after the case, it makes your argument and opinion weak and laughable. I heard from exactly ONE Wyoming fan before the game. Perhaps none of the rest of you had any confidence in your team that it could win, so you waited until after the game to try and make a point. Sorry. It's a weak and laughable response.

Columns are opinions. Agree. Disagree. That never matters to me. What I try and do it create emotion and dialogue and by the reaction of Wyoming fans, I should receive a huge raise based on just one column! The only apology needed is from fans who come late to the party with their own opinions.

I still think Wyoming is a really bad team. I'm just surprised UNLV has proven to be worse this season.

But see, I say those things before games ...

Ed Graney

I guess I needed to write him a novel and use a thesaurus to tell him what I did in 20 words just for him to take me seriously. Not worth my time, DIRTBAG!

-As big of Cowboys fan as I am...I still side with Graney on this one. His job is to procure interest in his columns and his paper. He surely accomplished that. How many people here had ever even heard of or read an Ed Graney article prior to this one? Now his name is all over the message boards. I am sure his editors and bosses are quite pleased.

-The point is...He is a writer for the Las Vegas paper covering the UNLV Rebels, he owes nothing to the Wyoming Cowboys nor the state of Wyoming. Furthermore, there is some truth to his statement about making a point after the fact.

-Lastly, I love when outsiders paint Wyoming as a desolate and unlivable environment. I'd prefer to keep Wyoming the way it is!

I would agree with all of this. Well put.

Insult our record, our offense, our team... but dammit, don't insult our state. Yes, our football program hasn't earned many things to speak positively about the past 3 years, but I take him insulting Wyoming personally. Talk about bleak and bland? He lives in Vegas! I wouldn't exactly call Nevada a gem of our 50 states....
