Women’s wrestling makes way more sense than golf or tennis. That’s for sure.

I assume most people would. Me too if money wasn’t a consideration.

Hockey likely makes the least sense unless the idea is to bankrupt the athletic department.

The idea with women’s wrestling is: (1) it’s the fastest growing HS sport; (2) the facilities already exist; (3) coaching staffs can be shared; and (4) it can at least generate some ticket revenue.

I think Men's hockey could prove financially doable, just very tough. Unfortunately, women's hockey given their required travel just wouldn't be. I do wonder though if Softball could be viable since UW and AFA are the only schools in the new MW to not have the sport. Travel wouldn't be awful in that case and you likely can sell tickets to it + a sport that gets decent media coverage in the spring would be huge for the school, rn I think it's just tennis and that's hard to sell for a lot of students wanting to watch sports this time of year.
