Waylee entering the portal

I guess with people like Waylee, 1 great year of productivity is all we fans at UW are going to see anymore....gonna be harder and harder to stay loyal to my team when we have 1 (maybe 2) and done players anymore.......make kids pay back their nil's or partial scholarships and maybe it'll change but being at lowly UW isn't what it used to be(unless the gel is instant early in the season)??? Sad state of affairs in this new CFB

Probably true for most of these guys. Frankly, I'm not surprised. What's the player going to say? I'm staying until I get a better offer. No. That's just a bit too honest. So they say they're staying until a better deal comes along. I don't blame the players. If I'm going to get my brains beat out and my knees destroyed, I'm going to get everything I can.

It's quaint to to think that having continuity at the coaching position is going to do anything to keep players from transferring. You can probably make the case that Sawvell being hired kept some guys around in the first year...but the bloodbath of transfers is coming no matter what.
 
It's also quaint to think that coaching/success has anything to do with players entering the portal. Last I checked, Ohio State had 14 players enter the portal this year.
 
I just wish someone could show much extra NIL money Waylee was able to take from Wyoming and its fanbase by making his statements of commitment and what not and by saving his extra year by only playing in 4 games when (by all accounts) he could have helped us in other games. In addition to his refusal to play in more than 4 games, I know he has made some recent public appearances 💰 💰 💰

I’d also like to know the amount of medical time and money that went to Waylee over the last year. To me - it’s Ike all over again.

Apparently happy to take as much as they can from our small pool of money. I would have had probably no problem if he left the moment he decided he was only going to play on 4 games (or perhaps even in December) like he should have. I would have encouraged it; go get the money. Now I’m pretty disgusted honestly. To me - it’s the same as taking money for not working; that’s just not within my mindset and really isn’t the Wyoming mindset of hard work.

Can’t say I ‘respect this decision.’ I don’t expect to collect full income for only working 1/4 or 1/2 the time in my personal life.

Sawvel endorsed the plan for Waylee to only play in 4 games when Waylee could have helped the team in more games by all accounts. That kind of coddling to the player is a big problem. What do we think Bohl would have said if a player comes in and says ‘coach, I am only going to play 4 games for you?’ I’m almost certain Bohl’s response would be, we will provide you 48 hours to collect your belongings from the facility.

True, yet they also bought the best team in the NCAA last year. Deep pockets = Don't Give a Shit if you Transfer. They don't care, and it doesn't impact them, as they will just reload with $$$$$. Big, huge, fat difference.

This is what pisses me off the most. I said as much when it was happening last year. Another terrible decision by Sawvel. And look at what it got him...absolutely nothing. Waylee left anyways.

The lacking of any common sense in the current NIL structure is maddening. People are throwing gobs of money at athletes, many that haven't proven anything, without any due diligence at all. It's literally crazy.

I do think the whole NIL thing will get ironed out into a much more palatable and controlled program, but that might take a decade or more.
