Washington State game

I bought two today and they were 60 a piece just for the knothole section. They would have been 80 to get decent seats. The price prob won't affect attendance but it still seems expensive.

You don't think that will affect attendance? Prices me and my family out of the game. Makes me sad that I can no longer afford to attend Wyo football games unless its Wofford or San Jose St.

I get what your saying. It would be a big chunk of change to take a large family to game. They should offer better family deals with bigger discounts if you have multiple kids.

I remember back in 1990 tickets were only $11.

Mr t,

Can you add a like button to the site for this post only?

Just keep winning. People (like me) will pay 80 dollars and up to see a competitive product on the field.

At least right now, not all games are at that price point. But not only is WSU a premium opponent, but it's also an early-season game when the weather is good. Meaning more people are likely to go.

Tickets for Boise game are about $10 cheaper. Tickets for the rest of the games are closer to half the price of the WSU game.

Agree. It sucks. Wyoming football should be for the people. Why do we have to be greedy liked everyone else?
Do you think Wyoming Athletics exist in some kind of temporal bubble that shields them from the rising costs of D1 sports? How do you think all of these shiny new facilities, upgrades, and competitive coaches' salaries get paid for?

GTFO here with such pseudo-socialist drivel...
The facilities come from mainly big money donors, not tix revenue. It would be well worth it to bring in a little less a year in ticket revenue and have fuller stands, better atmosphere and grow the fan base so, you know, we could get even more revenue.lower ticket prices = More fans = larger donor base = more donation revenue (the real source of program revenue)

Do you want cheap tickets or a successful program? Tickets help pay for coaches, recruiting, facilities, etc. So it's gotta be one or the other, can't have both.

BTW, I agree that it sucks, but it's the nature of the beast now.

To piggyback off of this, New Mexico State sold tickets for $3 to last night's game. See the result? We're investing in our program, and that means we have to pay a premium. Good football costs money. Bad football, well, see last night's drubbing.

Don’t students essentially get in free since they paid a fee? I remember swiping my student ID. They still don’t show up all that well considering they already paid for it

Wyoming is already behind the 8-ball on ticket prices. Let's look at some other schools for comparison:

Ohio State: cheapest home ticket of the season: $67 vs. Tulane x 107,500 seats = ~$7.2 million
Most expensive GA price home ticket: $197 vs. Michigan x 107,500 = ~$21 million

Washington State: cheapest: $35 vs. E. Washington X 32,000 average attendance (in 2017) = $1.1 million
Most expensive $65 vs. Washington X 32,000 = ~$2 million

Boise State: cheapest: $33 vs. several opponents x 31,000 attendance (in 2017) = ~$1 million
Most expensive: $54 vs. SDSU x 31,000 = ~$1.6 million

Colorado State: cheapest: $33 vs. Illinois State x 32,000 attendance (in 2017) = ~$1 million
Most expensive $85 vs. Arkansas x 32,000 = ~$2.7 million

Wyoming: cheapest: $25 vs. SJSU/AFA x 20,600 (in 2017) = ~$500,000
Most expensive: $60 x 20,600 = ~$1.2 million

As you can see, Wyoming is doing their best to stay in the ballpark with other MWC competitors, but is still a far cry from the big boys.

Glad someone pointed this out. Nobody notices or realizes this. The outcry for cheaper tickets is warranted, however like has been shown, and talked about it only hurts the university to have cheap tickets. Secondly people will show up to games, may not be sellouts, but they will come if a decent to great product is put on the field.

The problem with the "decrease ticket sales to increase attendance" argument is that even if the ticket price was zero, on average, the stadium would not be "sold out". Sell-outs in Laramie always seem to be caused by the relative stature of the opponent (see Nebraska and Oregon games). The other situation that increases ticket sales is if Wyoming is in the hunt for a conference championship late in the season. Obviously, the MWC championship at home was well attended two years ago but If we had a late season game with a divisional foe that had title implications I think that would also be a potential sell-out.

The upshot is that it behooves the athletic department to set ticket prices as high as they can without dramatically decreasing attendance while decreasing ticket prices to get more people in the stands has almost no benefit. Result: for games with reliably high attendance=high prices...every other game=whatever the going rate is for G5 football.

I wonder how many on this site understand what it takes to bring in a PAC12 team, in this case Washington St.? The guarantee that UW has to pay to a team like Washington St. is huge in comparison to a team like Wofford. UW still has to make a profit and bring in a good opponent, that costs over half of million to a team like Washington St.. Even at that UW is trying to keep the prices down, and in relation to other schools in the MWC I feel that Tom and his crew do a great job of making it financially possible for most Wyoming fans to go to a game if they want to. If we went cheap and brought in teams like Wofford on a regular basis I dare say the fan support would drop off like the quality of the opponent dropping. Even at $60, to go to a game at UW is a great deal, I do understand how it is difficult for large families not to always make it, as a retiree and living on a fixed income I have to watch my pennies!!! Just try going to a Denver Bronco game and see how expensive it is!

Does Wyoming even have to pay WAZZU game? I’m sure they just decrease Wyoming’s payout for the two road games? If it was 1 for 1 I can definitely see where it wouldn’t be the case but there’s a reason why we do 2 for 1. It’s because we don’t generate enough revenue during our home game.

No starter named at QB. New depth chart shows their DT and NT weigh 280 and 265 lbs. I don't know, maaan. It will be disappointing if Wyoming doesn't beat these guys. There is a real argument to be made this WSU team is the 4th or 5th best team we'll see all year.

Washington State posted as a 1.5 pt favorite. Total is 47. I haven't a clue how to bet this. That's never stopped me before so I would lean to the under.

Hell we have bigger backs and receivers too.. even our true freshmen.

They had a DL last year or the year before, Hercules something, a Polynesian, that was borderline unblockable. He was only around 250 lbs. but I do like seeing lighter DTs, especially if we want to go through them
