The skeptic would say: If they can't fill the current capacity, why expand? While that may be true in some sense, CSU was able to get an entirely new stadium passed despite only having 12 fans.

This is my biggest pet-peeve about how the State of Wyoming and to some degree the University of Wyoming is run. Very few of our people who make the decisions think outside the box. I know that suits some just fine, but I guess that depends on what you expect for the future of this state & university.

We are in some awful times for college sports. In this debacle with realignment and T.V. money, its think big or suffer long term. Gotta give the Sheep credit, they're thinking big even though they're program is crap. This proposal is very important....being stagnant will get Wyoming nowhere (for now, inactivity would send them backwards in the future). Screw the attendance figures.....need to instill some kind of positivity into the program.

+1 Agreed but it'll be a very cold day in hell before UW does anything like this anytime soon.

To hell with all that right now. If they want to improve the stadium and make it better than the run-of-the-mill places put in stadium seats first, in place of the damn bleacher style seating.

Cool concept, except the state's population would have to expand tenfold to support such a structure. Also, our virtual architect doesn't understand how sacred the end zone pine trees are. It's my understanding that the powers to be wanted to build the Rochelle Athletic Center closer to the north end zone, but there was a lot of bitching about affecting those trees. The design is a nice fantasy, but probably not a reality in my lifetime.

I completely agree with this, but if we do this, then we would have to add more seating to get the capacity back to 30,000.

The standard bleacher seat widh is 18". A riser mount Hussey stadium seat can be 18" to 22" ( 22 for fat asses, presumably) with 1-1/2" spacing. So if the bleachers are replaced with 19" seats, then the 32,000 capacity is reduced to 28,000. Its been a long time since there was 28,000 in the stands.

One annoying thing about the seats right now is that there appears to be the same number of seats in each row of a section. So as you migrate down closer to the field, the seat space becomes smaller because of the concave shape of the stadium (the length of a row is shorter down low) . I noticed this when I got a seat a lot closer to the field.

Why would someone at EA randomly decide to render two different stadium updates for a school like Wyoming.....did UW send out a bid for new ideas? Why would we need a stadium with a capacity if 90,000....? I am all for expansion and renovation but maybe to 50,000 max...: Jesus we average under 25000 right now....

2012 season average was 19,555. Best all time attendance was 24,831 back in 1977.

Right now our stadium capacity is below 30,000 (slightly), so if we did get the seats to replace the bleachers, we might want to add some more seating area to bring the capacity back to about 35K - such as adding some wings to both sides of the south end & maybe north end also (doesn't have to enclose the entire end - thus saving those prized trees).

You wouldn't do all seats throughout the stadium. I would think more like section 24,25,26 on the east side and b,c,d,e,f,g on the west side, 7 to 8 thousand seats total. Season tickets only, higher premium price.

I think I would be willing to do that. I have two fat asses sitting next to me now and with my broad shoulders, I have to turn sideways or else there is not enough room.

I think this is what they should do if they do ever expand. I love the trees, it makes the war unique.
