WALKON SUMMARY

Anywhere to read that list with where they're from? I read up on the qb leppke and imo he sounds like a player. A player they have to see if they can put 30-40 pounds on but if they can there's no reason to think he couldn't be every bit as good as half the qb's they've scholorshiped so far.

Bohl almost went too far in his "congratulate me on bringing in Wyoming kids" part of the presser. I like the idea of doing it but I hope he's doing it more for results than pr. I guess either way it didn't happen last year but eventually giving a handful of guys each year an invitation to be a part will pay off. I know I read somewhere that one of the walk ons was a big factor in theo picking wyo. sure hope he's one of the few that sticks.

I think a big part of the idea of walk-ons is just having them in the locker room. They are from Wyoming, they're used to the weather, town and overall conditions. They will obviously have great attitudes since they want to be here. They know how to have fun here in Wyoming and the walk-ons already know people and they can help the players from out of state get acclimated and make friends and whatever. Its not all about playing time on the field. It's about creating a healthy locker room atmosphere.

Sweet.....I noticed we got another preferred walk-on in the last couple days. Looks like another good one.

The difficulty with having out of state walkons is they count against the 2016 class if they earn a scholarship their sophomore year. Wyoming kids get a good deal due to their residency, but other kids are forced to pay the out of state price. If they hit the 25 scholarship mark this year, outlook is bleak for some of the kids to get a full ride. Rich Rod at Arizona has been a big proponent of changing the rule so they only count against the 85 total and not the yearly 25.

Being the father of a Wyoming walk-on who earned a scholarship.....I would support allowing all prefered walk-ons "in state tuition." This would level the playing field for in state vs out of state walk-ons. When my son was there I saw many kids abandon their dreams of playing because they couldn't afford the tuition so they ended up leaving. I know that this would be an NCAA violation but it seems to make sense to me. The life of a "Walk-On" is difficult enough......trust me. ;-)

I like that idea a lot. Being a walk on plus forking over out of state tuition is a lot to handle... and gives them more incentive to stay in the program.
