WAC First down stick

Perhaps I was just imagining this.... but I swear remembering back to the WAC days the conference used a unique way to measure first downs. The first down marker had some sort of stick attachment that would fold out, they would measure the first down based on a marking on the sidelines, then they would run it out from the sideline to measure. I have searched the internet and can find nothing. Does anyone remember this contraption?

I distinctly remember Air Force having such a device.

I however cannot find one piece of evidence the first down measuring device I swear I saw on TV as a kid ever existed. I could be wrong to associate it with the WAC but i'm pretty sure there was a conference in CFB that was not using chains to measure a first down. Google and searching the history of first down measurements devices is turning up nothing. What I am describing would be similar to the dickerod

Going off a totally faulty memory but I thought it might have been a Dickson rod which later was misspelled as a Dicker rod.

The WAC stick and Dicker or Dickson rod I think were different contraptions. I could be totally wrong on that.

Haha, I don't know why but now I'm curious. History of the first down marker
