vs. Boise, @New Mexico

With the Pokes getting a bye week, I fully believe Wyo can beat Boise State.
Wyo needs to play damn near perfect- no dumb penalties, Kirk needs to make some extra special throws, and the team needs to actually believe in themselves.

I think Bohl will have the team ready to play. They will have a game plan and I think Wyoming is in for a good surprise once or twice a year with Bohl. I just hope the Fresno, Montana, FAU, and AFA games counted as our surprises.

Wyoming can play ball control from Boise, grind it out, and end up on top of the score board, meaning they need to go to ABQ to get a 6th win to go bowling. Which is definitely possible if they do beat Boise.

But if Wyoming does not beat Boise, do we play Thorton/Young instead of Kirk? It's only one game, so playing for the future won't be that helpful, especially while next years QB is going to be Coffman and can't play until next season anyways.

Hopefully we don't have that dilemma for the New Mexico game.
But if we are, well then I have to say Bohl fits right in at Wyoming where the yearly average record is 5-7. ;)

The USU speed was the factor. Speed and finesse. Does Boise have speed or is it all power?
Boise State made Utah State look slow last season. Ask BYU or Colorado State if Boise is speed or all power...650+ total yards doesn't lie.

Unless it comes against Fresno, apparently. :brick:

It's not that it has to be Fresno, It's a fact that if the same Colby that played against Fresno played last night we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Fact is Colbys best rating (95.3) and most complete performance came against Fresno. However last night he has a piss poor showing up towards the end of the third quarter rating (25.8) and throwing 2 red zone picks that cost us the game.

This offense even with Colby at the helm as long as he can at least maintain a moderately reasonable rating (70-90) we can play with and beat anyone in the MWC. But that is a fact that he can't do because he is inconsistent, He struggles hitting receivers on the move. You notice all his Fresno completions were come back routes to stationary targets except a couple side line routes that required Claiborne to make amazing catches on.

Anyone that can't see this by now will never see it, You can't beat any team with 2 quarters of mediocre play. If your going to play mediocre you have to play all 4 quarters to even stand a chance.

Just look at our stats this year in the first half and second half, You can only see one complete game and it was against Fresno and every other game was a shitty first half turning it on in the second half or vice versa.

Hill could have easily ended this game with 200+ on the ground if we would have had even a slight resemblance of a passing game which we did not have. Plain and simple we can't beat either of the next two teams with a 2 quarter performance.

I'm not saying this was a moral victory all I'm saying is with a consistent QB we are 6-4 and even possibly 7-3. What we have learned is we have a great power run game but if you can't make the defense respect the QB's ability to throw the ball they don't have to defend the pass and we can't win.

It all starts with a consistent QB, Our bend but don't break defense needs some help sure but not as much as a consistent leader would do.

How about Boise vs. NM?

NM hanging 28 on Boise in the first quarter.

I've come to the conclusion that neither of our final two opponents have ANY Defense. Boise can't stop the run and UNM can't stop a pass. we might be in good shape in a few weeks.

Not sure we are in good shape for any game. As it was mentioned, we will go as far as colby will take us

Dead on 100% if Colby is off we are likely to lose and if he is on we have won it's that simple.

Hasn't it been that way the whole season so far? Colby is the single most important factor for the Pokes to either win or lose.
If Colby was just decent against San Jose we win. same with Hawaii and USU. We are a bowl team if Colby could even play 3 decent quarters. The two red zone picks are inexcusable at point in the season though.

I agree completely the biggest issue I see is what we consider for Colby to be " on " is what a lot of teams would consider a mediocre performance. I don't think anyone can step up and do anything at this point he has to figure out what he can do to play at least 3 quarters in the remaining games.
