Rick Miller - wow - he loves being mediocre. It makes his job easier I bet. Sound familiar? Hmmm.

Miller sounds like part of the problem and a guy we need to weed out rather than someone who is part of the solution...eh McPeech?

Agree...he is very much part of the current culture (a culture of accepting the "we are who we are" mediocre is good mantra). They all need to be shown the door. Then again, we know what happens in good 'ol Wyoming when you try and do that! Cough Cough Sternberg Cough Cough.

This complacent, unambitious POS needs to be shown the road to Boulder. We need changes in UW leadership, top to bottom, including the BOT. I think fans here need to express their feelings as voters to Governor Mead as well as their respective Wyoming legislative reps.

Here are Matt Mead's phone numbers: 307.777.7434 (phone) 307.632.3909 (fax)

You can also contact him via this link- http://governor.wy.gov/contactUs/Pages/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And his mailing address- State Capitol, 200 West 24th Street, Cheyenne, WY 82002-0010

Nothing is going to change unless voters let the good ol' boys know, we will make changes ourselves.

Also, advertisers and businesses who continue to blindly support UW without discussion or condition need to be made aware that they too, could feel the financial ire of fans and alumni...

And weeks later, its almost unfathomable to me, that they ran this man out of town, with such a refreshing and needed new outlook and mentality!

Sternberg and his passion and commitment to change the course of WYO Sports was a godsend to the entire state and every Cowboys fan out there...and they got rid of him.

Wow.

Wow.

But Doc...Sternberg would have launched Burman as well (you and I both know that). The very Burman you are defending in another thread for taking too much heat on this message board.

Wyovanian...did you forget Mead is a Jackson boy? That says a lot...
I don't give two s--ts if he's banging half the Simpson family, with all due respect to Al- enough's enough. It's time to quit growing in a box designed four generations ago.

Agree with you totally...my point being that of the two, in my estimation, Burman was and is ahead of the game versus a direct comparison with Dave Christensen.

I think Christensen completely let Burman down and Burman was expecting DC to be a different coach as well as a different person in being the face of Wyoming football.

On the other hand, if Sternberg would have rolled both heads out the door at once to bring about significant and meaningful change to the administration...he would have gotten no argument from me.

Have I clarified successfully?

Lets just say I believe that Burman does his job better than Christensen did his.

I'll agree with that. I think Burman COULD HAVE hit at least got a base hit with DC, but we know he most certainly did not.

We fired Christensen - so we need a new face for Wyoming Football. I don't think we need the best OC or DC to come in and be that person. We need a guy that understands football and has an increase in the budget to find the best OC/DC and position coaches to make him look good. HC is just management - the real work happens below him.

Hell, he would have had a home run if Glenn would have hired him as his OC. We just chose to not be able to afford him. (not saying JG was the route to go - just saying we need a good face for the program and some solid substance in the trenches.)

Point taken. Maybe we should measure Burman in MWC championships. He is O-for everything. I don't even know which sport he has gotten closest with - the Cowgirls maybe? Then again, Legerski wasn't a Burman hire, so there is that too.

2 Crucial sports in D1 athletics: Men's Hoops & Football - - -

Men's Hoops:
Burman fired Buckymac
Burman hired Slickdick
Burman extended Slickdick
Burman fired Slickdick
Committee hired Shyatt

Football:
Burman fired Glenn
Burman hired DC
Burman extended DC
Burman fired DC
Committee hires........

Looking at it that way, Burman looks like he may be out of his element a tad.

Well, I think that anyone would agree that Burman has a single bullet left in the gun chamber here...he cannot miss the mark with this next hire - or they'll be a thread here in the future talking about who the next AD should be.

Nailed it. This hire will determine if Burman still has a job in two years. You cannot fail as often as he has in revenue sports and expect to be kept on the payroll. Football and men's basketball are the bell cows, and you absolutely HAVE to field competitive teams. He did well bringing Shyatt on (after a committee told him to), and I really hope that he will knock this football hire out of the park. I'm sick of watching terrible football week in and week out year after year!

Burman said that Joe Tiller will be involved somehow with hire? Hmmmm
Fantastic news! I'm guessing "involved somehow" means he's on the advisory committee, which is EXACTLY what we need. Tiller knows how to win, and he knows a good coach when he sees one.
