paying his own way. So we should have two scholarships available for the spring if my math is right.

We over-recruited by one and then Vernon left. That made us even.

This gives us two more scholarships.

I watched Haldorson play basketball the other day at half acre and the dude was scrawny as shit. I doubt he weighs more than 200 pounds. Matt Sellers posted him up on the block over and over and Haldorson could do nothing about it. I think the coaches knew Haldorson was never going to be physically capable of playing in the MWC and told him that at the start of the fall semester. Hopefully he finds a small school and enjoys his time there.

I'm glad Hankerson is coming back. I've talked to him a few times and he's a really cool guy, I hope he earns playing time next year.

Haldorson declined to take a redshirt year and get bigger and stronger. From what little I know this put him at odds with the coaches and maybe they set down a condition for him to stay. Take the redshirt year and work hard in the weight room or we will help find you a new place to play.

That sounds very accurate to me. I always liked Haldorson's potential, but he's been with UW for more than two years and he's failed to significantly improve his strength. That means either:

A. He's not trying hard enough
B. He's not capable of getting much stronger.

Either way, it didn't look like he was going to be very effective in the MWC, and it's probably better to just say goodbye.

From what I've heard...Haldorson doesn't even want to play at his new school. Heard he just wants to transfer to CU and be a student.

Which makes complete sense. He didn't want to play here either or he would have taken the weight room and the practice facility a little more seriously.

To me that is something I just don't understand.

If I was in his position (raised in Wyo and CU offered me and Wyo didn't) I would not give up playing D1 basketball to transfer back to Wyo to just be a student.

If a team gave me a chance to play D1 hoops, I would absolutely do what I needed to be a player.

If my issue was not being big enough to play, I would always be in the weight room.

If the issue was wanting to be a student at your dream school, why not try and go to grad school there after you're done playing?

Shyatt over signed well before Vernon was suspended and decided to transfer, so he couldn't have been counting on Vernon leaving. Coaches don't over sign unless they have a specific knowledge of someone leaving and the only one that makes sense at that time of letting Shyatt know that he wouldn't be back the next year was Sellers. Sellers maybe a junior athletically wise at Wyoming but he is a senior academically at UW. Vernon and Haldorson made their decisions months after Shyatt signed three in the early signing period. I am just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if we have a third scholarship come available for the spring signing period.

D1 ball isn't for everyone. SOmetimes it just isn't fun anymore. Once you get to college and its your job instead of a fun game to play some people lose intrest.
