I guess he is at Illinois now with Zook.

Here is the link for the video:

I got a kick out of this from a related print article:

"The new coaches boasted impressive credentials, none more so than Koenning, who had rebuilt or enhanced defenses at Kansas State, Clemson, Troy, Wyoming and Memphis."

I am not a VIc hater (actually liked the guy) but, never thought much of him as a head coach.

I wonder if Vic still holds the record for number of beer bottles thrown at a coach during a single game.

I saw this interview and was reminded why he was a horrible Head Coach. He just doesn't have a commanding presence about him, but I think he is probably a pretty respectable coordinator.

The guy did rebuild our defense into a pretty formidable one under Dana Dimel. I didn't care for either one as a head coach, but Koenning is a damn good defensive mind.

Well I know he was angry about being passed up for HC at Clemson. Like many others said, he is not HC material but great defensive guru. I went to Clemson game in '07... Death Valley is an awesome place to see a game. Clemson, SC is less populated than Laramie but yet their stadium is 80k+!! Wish we could have that kind of support.

Yeah, but how many towns are within 30 minutes of Clemson though? Cheyenne might be stretching it, but that would be about it for Wyoming. Besides, Cheyenne itself is 80,000 or so.

Clemson is rather isolated in the Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina border. Greenville is the only big city nearby but it's population is only around 50k. Granted there are more smaller cities around Clemson, I'm still mystified by the kind of following Clemson is is able to get. I actually wrote an economic paper comparing Clemson and Laramie. The similarities in nearby population are quite surprising given stadium sizes.

Wait... Cheyenne isn't 80,000. Cheyenne is just over 55k.
While Clemson is fairly "isolated," they still have a TON of small towns (i.e. < 10k people) around. You can't say that for Laramie, unless you count places like Centennial (100 people).

As far as size of university, though, Clemson definitely is in the same class as UW. Clemson has 17k students, UW sits at 12.5k.
