Not the good unc thank god.
First road game.

We should win this game, like we should the majority of our non conference games.

I will be driving my happy ass from Wyoming to Oregon for Turkey Day, so will not be able to listen to it, or watch it.


Who will be attending?
 
A quick breakdown of Northern Colorado:

The team was picked to finish 3rd by the coaches and 4th by the media in the 11 team Big Sky Conference preseason poll. They are currently 1-1, with a home win against NAIA opponent University of the Southwest and a road loss to Cal Poly.

Player to Watch: #1 Derrick Barden
Derrick is a junior forward who is playing in his first season for Northern Colorado after transferring in from Odessa JC. He was named a third team NJCAA All-American and twice was named the national player of the week in his sophomore season in Odessa. He led all JUCO players in rebounding his freshman season, averaging 12.1 boards per game. Although he doesn't shoot the 3-ball a lot, he can knock it down if left open. The Pokes will need to make it a focal point to get a body on this guy every single time a shot goes up or he will wreak havoc on the offensive glass.

While Northern Colorado is not a powerhouse by any stretch of the imagination, they will be the best basketball team we have played this year. Add in the fact that this is the first road game of the season and this is anything but a sure win for the Cowboys. I'm very excited for this game and thinking the pokes will come out on top, but I would not be shocked if they lose this game.
 
Our defense is definitely in a slump compared to last season they need to work on that or we won't be doing near as good this season. Halftime 26-23 hope for some good 2nd half adjustments.
 
I think those are the two focuses coming out of the half: tighten down on defense and feed the post. We'll see if the kids can execute the plan on the road.

1:44 in the game, Washington down after taking an elbow to the face. Not sure if he will sit for a bit or not was a flagrant foul from Conner Osborne. Adams shooting for Washington on the T. Washington coming back in.

To hear Shyatt say he hopes that Saturday the football team has a good crowd to knock SDSU off their high horse and send them out of the conference with a loss really made me smile.

I had a pretty good time. I didn't realize it was a highschool gym but other than that it was a pretty nice arena. Nicer seats than the double A.
UNC is a decent team. They do play a bit dirty for my tastes. They can shoot the three as a team for damn sure.
Some of their fans were really nice. Others were assholes. Normal i guess.
The W-Y-O chant that made them turn up the speakers to 11 made my night.
I still think we have a LONG way to go to be the team they can be but I think this Wyoming team has the potential to be a top 25 team
 
I had never been there either. But hey, they sold beer! First time I've seen the team this year. I was very impressed with Cooke. He's clearly not in shape yet but he has inside skills and size that we desparately need. Adams shocked me with his athleticism. He's 6'1" and dunks easily.

It will be a long year if Martinez is allowed to shoot at will. Most of his shots aren't even close and he never penetrates. How many more 2-10 nights do we have to endure before he is either benched or had his number of shots limited? After a year plus, I can count on a couple of fingers how many really good shooting nights he has had. Once Cooke is in shape, he should start and bring Martinez off the bench.
 
I would like to Josh McMannen sp. Play more off the bench. I feel like he will be the Riley Grabau of this season and see limited minutes, but enough to burn his redshirt. Plus I would like to Haroldson get more minutes, but the Cowboys need to put more teams away so these guys can develop. I am still stunned they offered Sellers. The big man from LCCC just went to Southern Miss and I think he would have been a better pick up, and I know Sheridan Juco has some solid talent. The Marshall kid should have stayed as he could have excelled. Are there any big men in Colorado this year? I see what Shyatt is doing. He had Al Hortford at Florida and by no means his he a true center. Nance and Washington remind me of a Noah and Hortford combo at Florida and they spread the floor nicely. More dribble drive penetration and this team will succeed. Gilmore is a great point guard and Grabau is extremely smart with the ball. Adams adds a spark off the bench. Just need Sobey Haroldson and another player to add to the scoring.
 
Couldn't agree more about Martinez. Holy crap, how many more games of his piss poor shooting are we going to have to endure? We should be an inside-out team instead of an outside-in team on offense. Seems with the players we have that would be more logical. Maybe Martinez lights it up in practice and just can't carry it over to game time.
 
Personally I think you guys rag on Luke far more than you should. He has more on nights than off and there have been plenty of times when his shots have sparked a Wyoming win. The amount of Wyoming fans talking shit on Wyoming players is ridiculous.

EXACTLY!!!!!

Everyone is mad at luke for this game, but where were all the nay-sayers when he hit 7 3's a couple of games ago?

And does anyone else on here that talks crap on him realize he has hit a 3 in more consecutive games than anyone in UW history?
And that he led the MWC in 3 pointers last year?
