Thanks for the info! It looks like DC is going to have a lot more game like action than previous staffs. I would think this is in place in order to get used to the no-huddle system just a bit faster. Like I've said before i'm not sure if we will be a better team next year but they will at least be fun to watch!

I'm just so damn excited I can't type or think... that's why I have you around to correct me. :) I probably didn't mean to say scrum though.. I shouldn't post before breakfast. :)

Speaking of schedules.......rumor going around is Wyoming may play @Florida Atlantic instead of @Bowling Green......the MAC's scheduling debacle continues.....

Hmmm. As a traveling poke fan (of sorts), let me digest this one for a moment.

Boca Raton Florida or Bowling Green Ohio...

Right. This is a tough one.

I guess Florida Atlantic has my vote.

If I was living in, say, Dayton, Ohio right now, I'd be bitcing about this news since I could drive straight north to Bowling Green to see the Pokes play but since I'm in hell AKA Oklahoma City, I have no problem with UW playing Florida Atlantic instead of Bowling Green.

First off, wanted to say HELLO! And our main message board is: http://fauowlsnest.com/board/

According to our scribe, the contract is not final, but it seems to be a done deal that we will be playing each other. If the contract stays a home and home that I believe it is, we both have home advantages. We are familiar with you guys being the highest stadium, and with us at sea level, that will be drastic. But if you have not played football in the hell of september with a humidity at 95% in Florida, you will wish you are dead!

Unfortunately, we are only in spring practices and it is way early, but sure we will banter more when the season FINALLY arrives.

Thanks for posting. That is great. The Pokes aren't too scared of the humidity though...we have had plenty of games (recent) in the south in September (Florida, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Virginia) to name a few. To be honest, I don't think weather & conditions impacts the 18 - 22 year old athlete as much as it does us 30 something beer drinking fools. Cheers & hope to see you in September!

Nice to hear from you NCOwl. I hope this game does happen. I enjoy playing new opponents, meeting new folks. I actually think the heat/humidity could be tough for us, esp with the new offense we should have. Its pretty hard to know what kind of team we'll have, since we are re-tooling a lot of areas. But I guarantee this will be a more physical and more disciplined team than we had last year. What should we expect from the Owls?

We have a pro-style offense which is pretty solid, with a lot of returners and a senior QB Rusty Smith at the helm. He has plenty of really good targets so we will be looking for lots of points.

We have a whole new defensive line and line backer crew, don't get me wrong, should have talent, it's just NEW talent, so it's how they will click and come together to stop you. But, if D fails, look for the O to make up for it with plenty of points.

Should be a good even matched game, where the team with the least mistakes wins. We are looking forward to it, when the season finally does get here.

So the Owls.. they were a bowl team last year.. obviously a pretty good squad. What's the game atmosphere like at FAU?

I hope we have some serious improvement on the special teams. Especially the kick coverage. I'm tired of other teams getting to start all their drives on the 40 yard line!

Actually we have been to back-to-back bowl games and won both, we beat Memphis 44-27 in 07 and last year we beat Central Michigan 24-21, that makes us undefeated in bowls.

As for the game atmosphere.... well we are still in the works of our own on campus stadium, so we play at a city field, used a lot for high school. The fans we do have are good, mind you we only have had football for 9 years, and we get about 15,000 to the games, but still growing year-by-year.
