UW Board of Trustees just approved beer & wine sales

So, here's how the sales will work if it's anything like the big stadiums I've experienced:

- Two types of beer on tap at the concessions. Poured in 16 oz plastic cups. Bud/Bud Light or Coors/Coors Light depending on who has the concession contract
- Possibly aluminum bottles, 20 oz, at concessions or carts in the concourses. They'll either pour it all in a plastic cup or give you the aluminum bottle after removing the cap. Possibly a couple of more options for types of beer like Amstel Light, Corona or maybe even Blue Moon, depending on whether AB Inbev or Miller-Coors has the concession contract
- Hawkers selling 20 oz cans of the basic duo from above, which they will open and pour into a plastic cup before giving it you the cup

You won't get anything in your hand except a plastic cup or aluminum bottle without a cap for "safety reasons."

Buy one at the concession stand on the way in (get there 30 minutes earlier than you're used to). Then get a second one the first or second time a hawker comes by. Don't plan on any more than that unless you want to miss the game standing in line.

I can't believe that there are any complaints about this (not just complaints on here but comments to news articles and such). It is like damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I'll be happy to donate to the University with $7 beers or whatever they end up at. I'll be happy to stay in the stadium at halftime and watch the band with a cold one. I'll be happy to buy a beer for the guy next to me after Wyoming scores a big touchdown. This was a big step in the right direction to engage the fans.

SPOT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumb:

Hopefully our AD is proactive and designates a section or 2 as "family zones". I have a feeling that there will be at least a few fans more reluctant to attend the game with alcohol being sold, hopefully our AD can create incentives to not keep them away. We need all fans, drunk or sober, in the stands and enjoying themselves on Saturdays
+1. There's a lot of people that didn't/don't agree with this and I hope there are some concessions made.

They should create a refillable metal souvenir drinking glass at the beginning of the football season and allow fan's to bring them to each game. Charge them something like $10-$20 for the glass. Give you a 20-30% discount for every beer purchased.

This would help keep the packaging and trash under control. After all, picking up and disposing of more trash in the stadium adds to the cost.

They could even do a custom pre-season order for another $20-$40 bucks and have your name engraved on it. The additional money could go to CJC or something.

Maybe even taverns would pick up on the idea. If you brought your glass to the bar, maybe they would donate 1% to the CJC or something.

Not a bad idea, but it would have to be lightweight, nothing that could harm someone (I.e. A ref) if it were to somehow find itself turned into a projectile.
