UW Board of Trustees just approved beer & wine sales

[tweet]https://twitter.com/Wyo4News/status/799305332916944897[/tweet]

Pokes fans will be able to purchase beer and wine at University of Wyoming football and basketball games beginning in fall 2017.

Today, the UW Board of Trustees approved the plan forwarded by the Department of Athletics, with tight controls on alcohol sales and strong safety provisions. Those include strict age verification, beverage sale limits, prohibition of re-entry to the stadium and arena, and cutoff times for purchase of beverages.

So not allowed to leave at half and re enter and can't drink in the parking lot after the game starts... seems like they should be able to get more fans in their seats as well as make some money

Couple big changes though...

— Open containers will not be permitted in parking lots after games begin.

— A “no re-entry” policy will be established for the stadium and the arena. The only people allowed to re-enter after leaving will be those previously authorized for purposes such as retrieving medicine, coats, blankets or cellphones from their vehicles.

The good news keeps on coming from last week's Trump victory to this....HOOORAY, maybe our society is starting to come around to modernism ways...LOL

I approve! Hopefully gone are the days of the stadium emptying for the second half.

just for this I'm gonna sneak a bunch of bottles in this game on Saturday litter the student section like the ole days just to give the cops something to stare at awhile, they'll soooo miss this, LOL

I don't know if the hp will see a big increase as the drinking moves from the parking lot to the stadium. I'm sure last call will be end of 3rd quarter.

Good Point! Especially on Friday and Saturday nights when ESPN/CBSSN sticks the Pokes in the 8:15 p.m. time slot.

Any timeline on this? Is it too late to add a bar to the current AA renovation? lol

There already is a bar in the renovation. I think adding taps to the new concessions will happen.

Looks like I'll be "leaving my coat" outside every game. Darnit forgot again.

I was initially hoping for this, but the no re-entry part really sucks. We usually hit the leftover BBQ or fix a quick snack at halftime. Now you're locked in to the stadium food which, quite frankly, sucks.

Agree!!!! All 3 places I have been to this year that sell beer have a no re-admittance policy. I think this is the only way to go. I just hope that UW has their shit together and does it right. I am quite skeptical about whether they can pull it off at least the first year or two...they have no experience in the process.
