Pokes play in championship at Sun Bowl tournament playing a long lost WAC opponent in UTEP. I wish they were in the MWC..
Lots of memories of Haskins crews over thecyears.

The one memory I have of UTEP

1988 de facto WAC Championship game in Larame...WYOMING 52, UTEP 6 on national t.v. (CBS)!!!

I remember UTEP fans at 1991 WAC Tournament in Laramie, they were seated in the section i was in and they seemed like good people...They lead our series 23-43...Cmon Pokes get em

What in the hell did we get a flagrant called for? And I assume the tech was on Linder after that?

I think they called Walters for holding the guy on the rebound. And ESPN says the tech was on Newton.

Talk about a screw job by the refs. Holy cow I’ve not often seen such horrible one-sided officiating. And not in our favor

I will say our offense is mostly trash. Three guys standing around at all times while one guy goes one on one. It reminds me of an Allen Edwards offense. Thought Linder was an offensive genius. I could install an offense like this geez

I quit watching with about four minutes left. That was horrible officiating. UTEP showed some talent on the offensive side of the ball when they were moving, but defensively they were just hacking away and getting away with a lot even though they got called for a lot of egregious ones that couldn’t be ignored. When a team fouls that much, you need to keep calling it. Wyoming got called more often for less actual fouls committed it seemed like.

I can’t believe what I saw. I don’t have words for how bad the officiating was. The call when Linder got ejected was absolutely horrible. Wow……just wow.

By the expressions on Linders face, that wasn’t the offense he planned.

I didn’t even see him get kicked out. Don’t blame him one bit though. That’s about as one sided as it can get, with a team out there hacking away and flopping. Hard to win on the road like that.

I heard that Linder told the refs it was the worst officiating he’d ever seen in his life. Also, I don’t know who the heck those announcers were but they were obviously homers and they kept forgetting to turn off their mics.

Add that to the ghost flagrant in the 1st half. Thats the one where we ran into the guy, they didn’t call a foul and then we hit a 3 at the other end. They ended up giving them 2 free throws because the dude cried on the floor for 5 minutes

The one where Wenzel stopped his guy in the lane, the guy pump faked twice then waylaid Wenzel with a shoulder as he tried to shoot the ball and Wenzel got called. That might have been the most obvious offensive foul I've seen in my life.. but no

Wenzel was hit with some of the dumbest calls. You could see him say on one of them “I don’t know what I’m supposed to do”. Horrible officiating. Worst I’ve ever seen collectively.
