Yeah - our current AD has been picking basketball coaches for almost 2 decades.
The problem started with the program being run into the ground with his first hire. Then came the second coming of a guy named Larry who gave a little bit of hope albeit short lived with too many weak recruits (before NIL issues) unable to compliment the quality players followed by the AD’s selection of extremely weak assistants (ironically including the Larry son) that ran the program into the depths of the abyss not seen since the earlier 70’s Moe Radovich style.
Linder was the best hire since McClain but the transfer portal setup a continuous destructive pattern of which Wicks is trying to correct with pennies, nickels and dimes when to be included in the big boys club the minimum wager is measured in dollars. This comes at a time when the bulk of Poke fans have lost interest due to decisions made starting 19 years ago.
The future remains to be seen. Cowboy fever will not return until the program competes for conference championships and not for the equivalent of the playin pigtail game in the conference tournament.
