I have seen references to the officials in other threads - but they deserve their own thread. They were absolutely awful. We touch a guy and it is either PI or a personal foul. They flapped their jaws, pushed our guys after plays, draped themselves all over our receivers, pulled down our receiver by the waist while the ball is in the air (and then pick off the ball)...NADA. Their o-line held like it was their job. Multiple spots were yards (plural) off, and not in our favor.

Gafford deserved the flag for the late hit out of bounds...it was a dumb play. But holy crap were those officials terrible.

And don't get me started on the May targeting call. Horse-shite.

Thank you for this thread. Refs were the worst all year and terribly one-sided. Maybe it was karma for having zero penalties the previous week.

The guy that Gafford 'pushed' went down like a South American soccer player.

Did Gafford deserve the flag? Probably. But don't get me started on why he pushed the guy. Guy was out of bounds and tried to stiff arm him even though he was out of bounds and slapped him in the helmet. If I were Gafford I would have pushed him into the bleachers. In short they got the second guy there. And that RB had another play where he would try and hit you right at the sideline like a little bitch.

I don't necessarily disagree. It happened right below our section and all I saw was Gafford shoving the guy...about 3 yards out of bounds. The replay showed the other half of the story though.

The only call that really perturbed me was the targeting. Calls that result in a player being ejected when it is border line, per the ESPN announcers so I don't sound like a homer, bug me. No calls on holds, borderline PI, all that is much easier to overcome and not get worked up about in comparison to targeting and losing a starter.

I really dislike the targeting rule as it is currently implemented. I don't want cheap shots on Allen, Hill, Gentry, or any other player. That said, the way the rule is written it covers a lot more than just cheap shots.

I was calling for a flag on their sideline during their run, they were all over the field, the refs threw one and then didn't enforce any penalty???? LOL

Anyone catch the leg whip/trip attempt after that USU player was faked out of his jock strap by Allen on that long run?

Missed call and more classlessness by the Aggies. They really are BYU Jr.

The DJ May ejection was the one call that really pissed me off too. Sure there were holds and crap that didn't get called, but none of those had the impact of the Targeting call. I believe that the review should have to CONFIRM targeting rather than just have the call stand.

I've watched a lot of college football this year, and I've also seen these Targeting penalties result in a lot of players being ejected when they shouldn't have been, many of them also being called in situations where the defender had no chance of avoiding a bad hit because of something the ball carrier did when the defender had already committed.

As we have no like function, I just need to say IMO you nailed it.

The PI call in the endzone when the aggie tripped and fell was the most infuriating... Then they tackle maulhardt in the endzone in the same exact spot before the ball even gets close and its a no call. I mean come on! Atleast with the crew last week they were consistent with their calling. This crew was all over the place.

I didn't see the play you mention, but if he didn't succeed in tripping Allen, then it wasn't a penalty. I believe it is only a penalty if he actually trips him, attempting and failing is benign.
