Utah State defense...

Holy shit it's good.
End of 3rd quarter and they have held Heisman finalist and NIU offensive juggernaut to 7 frickin points.

And Lynch got more votes than Manziel... Their D is good don't get me wrong. But NIU looks like a team who hasn't honestly played anyone with a defense all year.

They did this to Wyo as well.
Physical, hard-hitting defense always wins.

I hope Bohl can bring something like that here.

They'll lose 7 of these starters. Practically the entire D-Line and secondary. We'll find out just how good Wells is at developing players. Can't rely on Andersen's guys anymore.

They did, and lost. BGSU's defense smacked them around all game.

After watching that game last night......well coached defense...they have some talent but it is obvious they play hard ...tough ...disciplined team defense. Not a lot of stars in my opinion. :twocents:

Now imagine them with Chuckie Keaton.... :?
They would kill teams. They probably would have been hosting the MWC title game, and won it. I see can easily see 2 more wins for the Aggies with Keaton, and am still amazed they lost that first one at Utah.

The Utah loss is not all that shocking. Utah beat byu and this Utah state team when it was healthy and Utah beat a dang good Stanford team. Utah played a very tough schedule this year

Utah played their first 6 games in the state of Utah, and went 4-2 then played their final 4 of 6 outside of the state of Utah and went 1-5.

They are in the Pac12, every year is a tough schedule now.
And USU choked that game away. They should have beaten Utah.
USU got scared against the Utes and the Cougars.
I really don't see how they lost those games.

And, even though USU is losing a bunch of senior starters, they return some juniors that are ready to start. They will be fine, they are still Gary Anderson recruits.
USU should easily be the favorite to win the MTN division next season.
Especially considering their MWC games are AFA, NM, SJSU, and UNLV at home and on the road they play Boise, CSU, Hawaii, and Wyo.
They should easily go 6-2 or 7-1 in MWC play. They get teams like Tennessee and Wake Forest early in the schedule, and in reality should win both games. And Idaho State and Arky State and BYU.
USU should win 10+ next year, if not 12.

Looking more @ USU's schedule, with a healthy Chuckie Keaton, they could be BCS busters next season.
@Tennessee
vs. Idaho State
vs. Wake Forest
@Arkansas State
@BYU

MWC play:
Home- AFA, NM, SJSU, UNLV
Road- Wyo, CSU, Boise, Hawaii

The hardest games on their look like @Tennessee, @Boise, @CSU, @BYU.
Sucks that their 4 hardest games are on the road, but they really should be able to win all of those.
Plus they might be getting another home game because they play @Hawaii. They could be in for a HUGE season next year in terms of wins.

But wait, there is no BCS next year...and with 4 teams, I don't think USU makes it in the playoffs.
USU loses 7 guys on offense and defense, majority of both offensive and defensive lines....which made them great in the first place. Pretty much every key player not named Chuckie Keeton will be gone, and Keeton may never be the same. USU will drop off next season, bank on it.
