Utah Game

Don’t see a way we win this game, but we might keep it under 22.5 if Bohl can put together a plan to at least mitigate Dampier some.

Last year was a disaster when he was playing for UNM, but having faced him before may help some.

I think Utah scores 35 on us at a minimum. Can we score more than that? Highly doubtful, but that’s why we play the games. Unfortunately, this Utah team is one of the best they’ve had in the last decade or so.

This one was a L in my prediction. I just hope we can play decent, and escape without any major injuries,

This Wyoming team might have had a chance against some of the Utah teams of the last 4-5 years.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if this Utah team ends up in the playoffs at the end of the year. I believe they have the best offensive line of anyone in the country.

Uh, the pick six Dampier threw in the 4th quarter last year made our win possible. He's a great runner and at best, a mediocre passer. He threw 12 td's and 12 picks last year. And I'm going to discount what Utah has done thus far as UCLA is now a complete dumpster fire and Cal Poly is, well, Cal Poly.

My worry is mobile qb that creates plays which means you likely have to use a lb as a spy and try to pocket contain as much as possible. Add in a damn good oline and it's going to be hard to generate pressure. Secondary will be tested and their run game is nothing to sneeze at (back to their oline).

Their D looks nasty limiting rush to 2.7 per carry. They rank 6th in opponent 3rd conversion and 9th in opponent plays per game at 54. This is a big one, imo. Our O hasn't been very efficient and we're averaging 75 plays per game to get the points/yards we're getting. If we can't convert 3rd downs and are limited to 50ish plays, we'll score 13 or less.

All that said, neither has played anyone, but i still don't like this matchup.

This will be a tough one. Utah has so much more talent around him than what he had at New Mexico. I watched a lot of the UCLA game. It really looks like Utah is doing a great job of designing an offense around his strengths.

Although, he is not a very good passer in tight areas he can deliver to open receivers with great protection and has A+ he is thing to Lamar Jackson in college football right now. Of course not nearly as polished, but Lamar wasn't nearly as polished in college either.

Eighty percent completion with his speed to go with that was a disaster for UCLA.

With that all being said, our defense is much better this year and if we can string together some drives, limit long touchdowns and force some field goals it could end up closer than expected.

Yup. Going to have to control the ball to keep it out of their offense’s hands
