USU-WYO traveling trophy idea.

It JUST donned on me what we need to do....

we will play for a bronze bust of Jaycee Carroll. USU stole him away from us and we want him back!

a replica of Bridger's rifle.

This. Would. Be. Badass.

Hey! USU fan here. First time on the board.

First, it's great to be playing Wyoming regularly again! My dad was a USU alum from back in the 40s. He always talked about how the USU-Wyoming games from back in the late 50s and early 60s were HUGE, best football anywhere. Resuming our rivalries with Wyoming and CSU is absolutely the best thing about joining the MWC.

Second, I really like the idea of a traveling trophy. Of all the suggestions, I think the rifle is the best. We could get a nice reproduction half stock .40 cal percussion cap Hawken rifle, and have a good gunsmith add the appropriate details to make it a really good replica of Bridger's rifle from the museum in Pinedale. I envision a representative of the school currently holding the trophy firing it at mid-field just before the opening kickoff. I really hope we can give this thing legs! If you'll push your AD, we'll push ours, and let's get this thing done!

Go Pokes! Go AGGIES!

Oh god, this day in age there is no way that someone could be firing a live gun on a college campus with 20-30K people there. I like the idea though.

I'm assuming he meant firing blanks Beaver...you know, like the blanks that we put in that really, really big "gun" that we fire off after every score.

No, no! No blanks! Fire a live round blindly into the opposing fans! Now THAT brings some excitement to the game!

But seriously, we have the same deal. Our ROTC fires a howitzer from the back corner of the end zone after every score. Once you've fired a howitzer, I don't see how a percussion cap rifle is a big deal.

Go Pokes! Go AGGIES!

We do the same thing. I agree that this would be an awesome tradition, but with the shitty PC world we live in these days I doubt it would happen. :puke:

Basically how I feel. I guess this would only be in Utah and Wyoming, 2 states that would not have a problem with it. If it were Colorado, or Oregon, or Cali though...

This was a good idea, hate to see it drop. Anyone in position to drop a bug in someone in the Athletic Department's ear? The whole Jim Bridger/Hawkins rifle thing is a good one I think, put some beaver pelts in there too eh Beav?
