Number 72 cost us two drives on his own! 1st ant goal at the six yard line? No. 1st and 10 at the 25 due to his inability to control himself. There's seven points gone (would've had 10). Hill a screen pass for 35 yards? No, 72 holds his man even though he's supposed to pull. How you even do that I haven't the slightest clue! There goes at least three points (13). Gentry, offensive pass interference! There goes at least three more points! (16). Gentry can't catch and cradle a perfectly thrown ball in the end zone! There's seven more points (23). And there's game, set and match.
This game was ugly due to penalties. The score doesn't indicate how close this actually was. WYO was within striking distance all game. And I counted 6 straight offensive possessions with a penalty which ultimately stopped the drives! That's what won USU the game. Had we been more disciplined this game was ours for the taking. But it's done and over with now. Time to move on. Learn, grow, younger guys continue to get reps and impress us against Boise. Let's take it to those Donkeys for once!
Kirk wasn't terrible, but let's not pretend he didn't have his share of absolutely terrible passes and locking onto a single receiver the second he got the ball in his hands. He missed plenty of wide open plays in favor of throwing the ball into coverage, and he probably should have been picked off a couple of more times in this one.
I agree the penalties was every bit as much of an issue, though.
That Hill managed over 100 yards rushing was really impressive. So many times it looked as if he was going to get caught for a loss, and then he somehow dragged the tacklers to a four yard gain.
