Hell yeah!

Yeah I know we played Idaho and Northern Colorado, but we aren't the only team to play two weak teams 4 games into the season.

Brett had a QBR of 99.0 last night. Amazing.

Brett is also tied for 2nd in the NCAA in pass yards. Mannion at Oregon State has 1604, then Smith and Wenning from Ball State are tied at 1315 for second.
Smith has 13 TDs and 3 picks.
His completion percentage is 68.6%. Up 6.5% from last season.
His "Raw QBR" over the season so far is 88.9 right now.

Rufran is 13th in the country @ 385 receiving yards and tied for second in the country with 6 receiving TDs.

Shawn Wick who didn't get a lot of yards last night, but still scored 2 TDs, is sitting at 28th in the country in rush yards @ 353 1 yard more than Boise's "star" RB, but on 17 fewer attempts.
Wick is averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Tied for 15th @ 5 rushing TDs.

Between Smith and Wick, doing the majority of the work, mixed in with some relief by Miller and Stover, and some power by Tedder, the Pokes have a legit running game, and a deadly passing game.

I expect the Pokes offensive stats to stay in the top 25 all season, if not crack the top 10 in some categories.

Also, Yarbrough is 5th in the country in sacks, sitting at 4.5

Impressive stats! Great to see the Pokes off to such a great start in all areas of the game. Here is to it continuing the rest of the year.
GO POKES!

Brett is also #2 in the NCAA in total offense, averaging 403.5 yds/game. Second only to Cal's Jarred Goff who is putting up 429.7 yds/gm.

It'll be interesting to see how the next few weeks play out, Texas State doesn't look horrible, in fact I think they would beat AFA. New Mexico usually plays us tough, but I don't know if they can keep up this year. CSU didn't look terrible against Alabama, granted Alabama was asleep at the wheel, but even then they are still dangerous. And then San Jose State who has a top 50 defense in yards allowed, but after losing to Minnesota (who is very overrated IMO) I don't see why we can't take it to them as well.

I hate to get overly optimistic, but I don't see any reason why we can't handle the next 4 games and welcome Fresno to the War with a 7-1 record. Fresno's schedule before us is: @Hawaii, @Idaho, UNLV, @SDSU, Nevada. The only possible test there is Nevada, which could set up a 8-0 Fresno State vs. 7-1 Wyoming battle. That has all the makings to be a barn burner.

WestWYO, I think the Tx-St. game will be harder than some people think, but the Pokes should be able to dominate. Not dominate like last night, but something like 42-21.
NM is still a long ways out from where they want to be, that should be an AFA type game.
CSU, sucks. They are not dangerous. I think Saban went easy on Mac. Plus, after facing #6 Texas A&M last week, then having #21 Ole Miss coming up next week, the players might have kind of overlooked a 1-2 MWC team.
Brett Smith isn't going to lose to CSU. The seniors here aren't going to lose to CSU.
Pokes should without a doubt be 6-1 heading into SJSU. That game is winnable for sure, and we should know more about the teams by then.
The big time Fresno game would be nice, but like everyone else says. 1 game at a time.

A few games in, it seems as though we have two teams. A great team that will blow everyone in the conference out of the water. That team showed up last night and at Nebraska. The other team is still a decent team, but has a tendency to get the dropsies in the first and third quarters.

If the explosive team shows up day in and day out, we got this...if not, we may drop one we can win.

I didnt quite understand what AF was trying to accomplish defensively. They were so determined to stop Wick on the inside zone run that they basically gave brett the outside on the read option on almost every play. Everytime our backs lined up in the backfield they would proceed to stack the box and run biltz, essentially letting brett run wild when he pulled the ball. I dont know what kind of defensive coordinator would want to funnel everything to the outside. This left the flats wide open and basically gave brett man coverage on every receiver. Even the AF db's were playing off the receiver giving up the hitch and curl to athletes like Herron and Ruffran who ate them alive. It makes our offense so much deadlier when tems have to respect our run game. Im very impressed with Wick and what he brings to this offense even as a decoy. What a contrast between this team and last years. Also I loved Kongos hit ! Never saw the Cowboys with that type of attitude.
Seeing the smile on Christensens face after the game, with his players arms around him walking across the field was a beautiful site. These players love him and with DC being on the field calling plays and being more interactive with the boys is making a huge difference. I love it !
