Updated 2 Deep Depth Chart

Wyoming's defense is SMALLLL .....I have a feeling when we play power runs teams we are going to get gashed. I will wait to see how it plays out and hopefully I am wrong but boy are we small on defense. Well hopefully they are fast.

Yep. I wonder why Sumter wasn't moved back to nose guard / tackle. At 305, and not listed on the 2 deep as O guard...makes me wonder. And why Durbin is not starting along side of Purcell (or Taufa’asau starting next to Purcell) etc., etc., etc.

Thought I'd put some of your worries about being to "small" to rest... lmao, thats a funny statement right there :D

seriously though, did some research, you will be suprised to see that our d-line is pretty much the norm... today's game needs a faster dlineman.

Our starting Dline weight:
Biezuns: 260, but we all know how he plays
Purcell: 286
Knapton: 263 (he will somtimes play inside, sometimes go outside... when he goes outside durbin will come in at 272)
Jones(highbreed speed rusher): 225... will line up in a three point, standing, sometimes will line up on the hip on knapton with either a stunt or pure speed outside)

K... it seems small, but its not when you compare it too everyone else.

Airforce Starting 3 dlineman
255
260
260

TCU Starting 4 dlineman
265
272
277
290

CSU Starting 4 dlineman
240
249
288
309

NEBRASKA Starting 4 dlineman
265
265
285
290

Boise ST Starting 4 dlineman (probably one of the top 5 dline's in the nation)
276
295
296
258

If we need to put 4 hogs in there, the lineup will be
260
286
276
263

really it will be all about attitude and linebackers that can get through the gap to stop running lanes. Our defense will be fine, in fact, and the speed rush that we hopefully generate will be top notch. Im predicting a 5-7 sack performance against weberstate.

SDSU's and Air Force have small dlines too. SDSU has only guy that is in the 280 range, the rest are pretty small for a Dline. They better hope they don't have many injuries.

We are running a 4-3, so we don't need huge DT's.....in the 280 to 290 range like Purcell is preferable. The ends just need to be fast. We know what Biezuns can do, and we've only heard good things regarding Corey Jones. He might be small at 225, but it seems like he reaks havoc. As has been mentioned above, we can go bigger if we need to.

and dont be suprised to see yarbrough getting reps... i think he's listed around 265.

also, taufa'asau is listed at 276-279.

we can put some good size out there when we have too, but we have to generate pressure

jones is probably the fastest to the quarterback off the end. knapton and biezuns are bullrushers in the mold of jared allen.

eddie yarbrough is a mix of speed and strength... but still needs to develop... once he does look out.

Montana had a small DE a couple years ago.. went on to win the Buck Buchanon award (best D player in FCS), and is now playing for the Falcons. It's not necessarily how big you are, but what kind of motor and speed you have and the ability to shoot around a potentially much slower OT.

wow air force has exceptionally small for only running 3 down
They kind of have to. Their guys need to fit into a jet's cockpit afterall.
but you'd think they would run 4 down if that's the case

if it were me running their defense i would run primarily a 4-2-5 in mostly man coverage

Well, they do blitz their OLBs quite often. So that's 4-5 guys coming into the backfield.
