I really like our chances with Herring at QB. I hate to see injuries to QBs (as we obviously had to deal with the loss of Brett Smith). However, I actually think Kirkegaard actually throws a better ball than Herring. Herring will get some yards on the ground, no doubt...but I expect 2 picks at least.

I've stopped thinking that playing against a QB who can't throw is much of an advantage. A junior high lineman could throw to receivers as wide open as our secondary leaves them. New Mexico's backup had never thrown a TD - and he had two against Wyoming.
