UNM WYO Thread

Wyoming's secondary keeps giving up big plays... the linebackers have to cover for them again and again.

Good stop on first down there, though, by Weston.

we have to stop giving them such good field position on kick-offs, otherwise I think they don't score those 6 points.

Not to mention that the botched fake punt gave them 7...

I think the main thing is that our secondary can't keep giving their receivers those huge spaces. It means the catches are going to be easy, and we have zero chance picking off the ball. I guess the benefit is that there haven't been any 70 yard TD throws either, but still. Wyoming needs to force some turnovers - this team hasn't been able to hold on to the ball before, and this weather is perfect for forcing fumbles, yet we've seen none of them so far.

The good news is that ACS is looking solid back there. Sure he's been off on a few passes, but he's moved his legs enough to more than make up for it.

Wyoming needs to score 7 on their first drive of the second half to take a two score lead. Force New Mexico to abandon their running game (which hasn't been good since that first drive anyways), and then get a pick or two!

I am fine with holding NM to field goals, however. If that's what you have to do, keep doing it for as long as our offense can keep scoring touchdowns.

Agree, our offense looks capable enough. Hold them to FG's and we should win comfortably

Anybody else as nervous as I am?
It's a lot less nerve wracking to cheer for Wyoming when you (and the rest of the world) don't expect them to win. This game is one everybody expected them to win, and I knew New Mexico would come out hard... you can tell Wyoming is the better team, but the score is still close.

What we're seeing from the secondary really doesn't make me happy, though. They're fine when up against run plays, but look completely lost against the pass. They REALLY need to figure things out before we play BYU and CSU.

Very nervous. But for the first time in awhile I actually have confidence in the offense. I think we will score 2 TD's in the 2nd half. Hope thats enough.

No, not me. Not after watching them grow up and become winners at the FAU game. I think the nervousness is that we may actually have a good team...and a great coach...with Glenn, we could have a 3 TD lead and be nervous.

Go POKES

New Mexico's trying hard to strip the ball on every play. Wyoming's lucky that the earlier fumble was recovered by us rather than NM.

Down deep in NM territory now, ACS uses his legs to get a lot of yards, but not enough first a first down. Going for it on fourth down again.

Wow... not happy with Wyoming's playcalling here. ACS is bleeding like crazy from his arm. Another big fourth down stop by NM. Defense needs to get an early stop since Wyoming came away with no points.

Ok, now here I am glad to see the killer instinct!!! Frick!!! But gald to see the killer instinct. Sure wish they would have kicked a field goal though

Tough coming away with no points, but its not that bad pinning them deep in their own territory, thats why i usually support going for it.
As long as D holds it should be OK

Thats two blown 4th and goal plays. Kick the FG DC! I understand going for the kill but we need the pts.

Big third down here... 3rd and 6 on the 12 yard line... ALMOST picked off!

Good pressure by Unrein. Lobos are forced to punt.

I have a feeling part of the reason for going for it on 4th is to pin their defense on the field a play longer. I'm not sure I like it, but if NM falls apart defensively soon, then I guess it worked? Could also be that we have kickers who don't feel comfortable in the cold?

3 and out for Wyoming... ACS close to getting the first down on his feet. NOT a good possession. But at least it was pretty safe and no big risks.
