UNM @ CSU

CSU is working UNM right now, They have a good chance of beating them.

CSU 43
UNM 36

13 mins to go.

Colorado State loses to Boise State last Wednesday, and might beat New Mexico a week later? Further proof this league is wide open. The conference tournament will be entertaining.

By the way, did anyone else notice during CSU's post-game interviews following their win over us that Coach Miles called on other players to step up and replace Eikmer's scoring because he already knew that Luster would simply erase Eikmer from the offense?

Folks, that is what I call consistently intimidating defense.

ESPN's Andy Katz is plugging for a 4th bid for the MWC after the sheep beat New Mexico last night:

I will say that SDSU's departure might affect our national exposure via Andy Katz, who is based in San Diego and has long been more inclined to look deeper than the PAC-12 when it comes to basketball in the West and therefore comment positively on MWC hoops than the folks from Bristol and NYC.

We need to get TCU when they visit Laramie. I do not think SDSU in Laramie is an impossible task either.
We play in San Diego. Only home games left are Boise and TCU. Roadies to SD and LV. Can't drop a home game at this point. Also, CSU is in 4th place, not 3rd place.

My error. I meant that I do not think that SDSU in San Diego is an impossible task either--especially with their injuries and resulting depth problems.

I do not expect a win tonight, but I do have high hopes for one. Contrast that with last year when I would not have even bothered to check the score the following day because I had no hope that the game would be competitive and a win would have been meaningless in the context of the season and program as it was.

A win tonight against a good team is even realistic, if not probable.

Go Pokes!

Just looking doing the math, looking at probabilities, the most likely outcome for the Pokes this season is 11 losses. NIT but no NCAA.

Wyoming needs to win our two home games and hopefully steal one on the road. If we can hold serve, I think we can tie CSU for 4th...and maybe 4th by ourselves with a win tonight and/or in Vegas. CSU can't win on the road and still host UNLV. If they can beat AFA, they might have the inside track.

My thoughts: how does TCU close out? CSU has the inside track on us for any given placement.

I do not think we get into The Dance without winning the MWC tournament--even if we win the rest of our regular season games.

If the conference tournament started today, we would play San Diego State in the first round for the right to play the winner of the UNLV/Air Force game.

Question: Assuming that we could get an at large bid if we play in the tournament championship game, Is it better for us to be on the same side of the bracket as UNLV or New Mexico? I thought that, when SDSU was sitting in 1st place, the 4/5 game was the best place to be in the tournament. I am assuming that we finish somewhere between 4-6.
