Line is dropping (currently -6) it was at -7.5 today with O/U at 47.5. I thought it would be closer to -17 but Wyoming actually scored points and UNLV has been struggling, but continuing to win.

A few weeks ago; I would have said zero chance.

But the offensive gameplan the past few weeks to take advantage of the strengths Hughes does have has changed the outlook a bit.

Perhaps even more to the point, I watched some of the UNLV-NIU game this past weekend; UNLV did not look good on defense!! NIU moved the ball pretty easily on the ground (and through the air). That was a game that a really really bad NIU could have won in Vegas.

I have a feeling line ends up around 5. Wyoming has a real shot if we continue not turning the ball over and taking advantage of QB legs.

UNLV has a terrible defense but this being a road game and Dan Mullen is always good for 2-3 offensive explosions a year has me worried. Hes great at scheming up stuff on the offensive side of the ball

Bohl needs to try to scheme up something on defense.

If we go in with the "our base defense can handle this UNLV offense" game plan, I fear the outcome.
He needs to keep Ethan off the field if he shows any signs of being slow and and use the Rutherford and Perez speed. The UNLV OL is suspect so blitz packages should be used to force Arnold off his mark

This game will come down to turnovers. We win that battle, we’ll win the game. I have to admit, I didn’t think we’d be in the position we are at the beginning of the season. I’m still not sold on Sawvel being great, but he’s certainly moved up to solid. If he can continue to get the guys to play hard and find ways to win, I’ll buy in more and more each week. Keep it rolling, coach! Winning cures all and several of us deserve all the crow you want to serve! Go Pokes!

I don't give Sawful as much credit as you.

Line is now down to -5.5.

Damn - I should have placed a bet on where the line would move to.

There’s a difference between credit and confidence for me. He gets the credit when we suck for sucking, therefore he gets the credit for when we’re winning. Am I totally confident that he’s an outstanding head coach? No. Still a lot to prove. Has he surprised me the past 3 games? Somewhat. SJSU and NIU were both wins that I believe we should have won and we did. Air Force was a good team, not great, so at home I expected another win. Didn’t necessarily think we’d pull it off, but he did get them prepared to win that game, so good job by him. UNLV is a good team, it’s on the road, and historically under Sawvel or Bohl for that matter, we have not been good enough to win a game that actually means something. To me, this game is a pivotal moment for the Pokes to finally get over the mediocrity hump. If he can do that, my confidence just might go up another tick! Lots to prove on Saturday for the players and the coaches IMHO.

Line down to 4.5. I was wrong and too deferential to UNLV.

They gave up a lot of rushing yards to afa in their loss to them. I'm hoping we can get a lot of rushing yards against them too and have some long sustained drives that end in tds to keep the ball away from their offense.

Wyoming needs to control the clock and win the turnover battle to keep it close enough for a late FG or TD to be decisive. UNLV is likely to load the box until Wyoming proves it can move the ball by being able to complete at least mid -range passes. I am doubtful that the Sawvel/Bohl defense will be able to stop UNLV so it will be up to the offense to minimize UNLV's number of possessions by sustained drives.
