Looks like a pretty big stadium that could do multiple things.. but if you build it, will UNLV fans come?

Holy crap. If they really do get all of those events going, UNLV would never have to worry about money again. Then they would be able to get some good recruits (a new coach?), better visiting teams, and more.

But holy crap that would be huge. In more ways than one.

First CSU, now UNLV....the preparations for candidacy into the future Pac-16 continue. Everyone is trying to look more attractive.

Well, UNLV would still need to get their academics up.

No they won't. Academics are by far the most overrated factor of realignment. Vegas would bring a great T.V. market, sports programs with great potential, and an extra vacation spot for Pac-XX alums. UNLV gets this done, they'll be sitting pretty come time things change again.

The PAC, like the Big 10, prides itself on academics, especially graduate programs (the main reason why BYU has not been invited). Should UNLV get this new stadium AND improve academics, then yes, they would be a shoe in.

Come time where the big conferences expand to 16, they won't have the luxury of meeting all their standards. Concessions will have to be made. UNLV with all its potential will be hard to pass up for, regardless of academics. Assuming they don't try to go after those top Big XII schools again. Options are not plentiful out west.

Which is why the PAC is in no hurry to expand. They are to far to be in danger of being raided by the SEC, and have a very long standing relationship with the Big 10. And the Big 12 is in a weaker situation, other than their TV rights being locked up for the next 10 years or so.

Not much need for the Pac12 to expand right now.. big TV contract, schools are raking in money, why split the pie even further?
