Tyler Vanderwaal

I haven't seen much out there about the QB battle. I'm assuming it's Vanderwaal at this point? Bohl hasn't outright said Tyler is the starter has he? Does anyone have any info about him? How's he looking, does he have a strong arm, etc...

I have no inside info as to how he's looked in practice, but from Bohl interviews...while he hasn't named a starter, he's also been consistent in refusing to say TVW and Smith are on even terms. They're not, TVW is clearly ahead. I think Bohl just doesn't want Tyler to become complacent.

TVW is quite the mystery, though. Even if details of his practice standing leak, we're not really going to know how good TVW is until the NMSU game and beyond. I'm not sure what to expect other than having the lens of knowing he hasn't played college football yet, so some level of patience might be required.

Or maybe he'll be amazing from the start. I don't know, the dude really is a wildcard.

He throws a good ball. Not as good as JA but better than Brett Smith I think. I think the key for him will be the ability to move away from pressure and scramble. I think he can do that. Feel bad that the other Smith lost that ability from his freshmen year, otherwise he’d be a little better.

We won't know how well he can throw until he sees 3rd and 7 on the first series, as we'll see 2 straight hand-offs up the middle to start the game :?

Ability to throw on the run will be the key. I don't think there will be much of a pocket this year.

Good news is that with our tight ends, we do have a lot of big targets that should be easy to see even as he's sprinting for his life!

His mom is sure Pokes proud, always posting stuff, we shall see, but I think he's the best option we have now, unless Nick Smith proves something/somebody wrong

Truer words have never been spoken.
