TV and other info on the merger

Ok guy's this info is per ECU Chancellor Steve Ballard. The league will be finalized and have a name by May hopefully sooner lawyers are at work. The league will likely add two to four members to move to 18 or 20 teams by the end of summer. Thats is where the league will stay for now but will eventually go to 24 to even 30 teams but that is a couple of years down the road. We are in talks with 3 TV networks all three have very high interest and the payouts per team will be much higher than each team in C-USA and MWC get now with their TV deals. He did mention FOX by name but not the other two but I'm hearing NBC Sports and CBS Sports Network.

What about the Mtn Network? Despite what some say about it, a lot of us, especially those using Wyo2dal's links, have gotten used to seeing most Cowboy football and basketball games. And the same can be said of the other MWC fanbases as well.

Those of us who don't live in a state currently housing a MWC school would love to see a "bigger" network pick up the new conference, so we have a chance to see the games on TV in our areas. The only way I currently can see the games via TheMtn. is via Wyo2dal's online feed.

i would NOT be happy if this ever moved past 20....if it moves past 20 I vote Wyoming jumps ship along with the original MWC teams....that is freaking stupid to go to 24 and 30, why the hell would you have 30 teams in one conference? You might as well withdraw from FBS! I will be more anti- this than I am now if we ever move past 20 teams.

Here is the interview

It is well worth listening to.

Simple truth is the AQ leagues are shutting out everyone else. With the PAC scheduling agreement there will not be many opportunities to schedule them anymore and look for more of the MWC type teams to have a very difficult time scheduling AQ league teams, Basketball is even worse.

This is an attempt, to try to preserve a decent schedule, a regional division set-up, and increase TV money. It will kill the WAC and probably gut the top 2- 4 out of the Sun belt and MAC

listen to the interview. Good stuff on regional play and no cross over games to the EAST. This will keep teh same schedule we have now but increase the TV money. He really stresses regional play in all sports until it is championship time. By killing the WAC we may even get a spot at the table for whatever is replacing the BCS. this is probably the only way to try and get access.

I don't like it either but I am willing to listen to the details based on what the ECU president said. It was intriguing.

I honestly am disgusted with the whole thing right now.....the merger etc etc etc...I want a regional conference, all we are doing is making it easier to shut us out by making our own section of college football. Its a lot easier to shut us out if we all pile in the same conference and have our own "championship series" with a semi-final and final for a conference championship. I vote we steal UTEP and add Utah State and do our thing!

East Carolina Fan? Yar I be!

Conference thingy makes sense -- basically still the MWC and CUSA with a championship game. If one or the other groups loses 2 teams unexpectantly, they still survive unlike the WAC.

The Big East still baffles me and the schools willing to whore out their football programs for it.

I forgot to tell y'all that a representative from C-USA visited North Texas over the weekend looking at stadiums.
Apogee stadium was visited at North Texas. Tulane's AD was in the visiting group I was told.

THEN ECU IS JUST ANOTHER WHORE PROGRAM.
THAT WHORE HAS ASKED MORE THAN ONCE TO BE TAKEN BY THE BIG EAST.
AND IGNORED.
AGENESIS.
ECU DIDN'T HAVE THE RIGHT STUFF.

DID HE BUY AN ECU VIRTUAL BOWL TICKET?
