I mean, if our offense performed like our defense (top 25 in the NCAA in almost all categories and top 15 in some), we could easily have been 6-0 this season.
The UNLV game also pulled the averages for our offense up quite a bit, but going from 45 to 16 to 9 points is pretty rough.
How the hell was the defense top 25 in anything giving up 37 to Nevada, 31 to Hawaii, and 34 to CSU? That was half our games.
Oh we held Boise down in a blizzard and kept UNM and Unlv under 20.
Everyone likes to hold Vigen accountable on this board, but sorry if I call [#]sh#t on a dominant d that was "top 25 in almost everything". That just can't be real when you give up 37, 34, and 31 points in a 6 game season.
First, the D only gave up 7 to Hawaii. Second, 14 of the points given up to CSU were due to turnovers (one pick 6, the other lead the a TD the next play).
So outside of the very first game, they technically held each team to 20 or less. Considering we were missing nearly our entire starting D line, lost our top LB to the draft and were breaking in a new DC, I'd say that's not too shabby. Add in the fact that we got destroyed in TOP in 50% of our games, and I'd call that a damn solid season.
