Never wanna be a pessimist for my/our beloved Pokes, if we don't come out flat and play with the same fire and intensity this is truly gonna be a fun game to be at I think/hope, if we take care of business:

UW 35 AFA 31, it'll be a shootout

if NOT:

AFA 27 UW 10

This is a hard game to gauge, we've seen it b4 big game the week b4 total letdown next week, AFA is good, can we stop their run etc...... regardless it'll be fun and Brian gets right at 100 yds, get er done Pokes.

I can't see us scoring only 10 points in any circumstances. In order for us to score only ten we'd have to have two critical fumbles and miss chip shot field goals kinda like at.... EMU :o

Won't happen at home though. I think we put up at least 4 TD on the flyboyz

I get your drift....but we've seen a cold Pokes team b4 if so, it could be a looooong afternoon

I'm thinking more in line with your first score. I don't see them stopping us. Hell, if they come out flat, we may lay a CSU on them. I just don't feel like they'll come out flat.

I think to this point, Air Force has the toughest defense Wyoming has played this season. #1 ranked rush defense nationally. I'm guessing points will be hard to come by for both teams.

Now AFA knows the running scheme. Can Vigen come up with an equivalent surprise passing attack to confuse AFA?

We will need big game from maulhardt and gentry if we want to win this game. They will need to spread out the defense to open up the run.

Agreed. AFA is going to expect us to want to run. The best thing we can do is make them defend the pass for a bit. Get the running game going. Do some play action. Get the playbook open.

We have a good run defense - but the triple option is a bitch. They are going to run on us. HOpefully we come up with a few more stops against them than they do against us.

I disagree. They are going to pass on us. That is the Poke weakness, and AFA has one of their better passing games this year - especially going deep.

I don't think they will pass unless we really put a hurt on their run game. I'm not sure we are going to do that.

Air Force has small corners, 5'10" and 6'0". Both safeties are 6'2". Gentry is 6'2", Hollister is 6'4", and Maulhardt is 6'6". Wyoming needs to use their height advantage over those small corners. If Allen can exploit the height differentials, it could be a good day for the Pokes. :twocents:

I can't put a whole lot of stock into air force's run d just yet. Outside of navy (who may very well be down after losing a lot last year) who have they played? Utah state in a down year? An FCS school? So long as we don't run Hill up the middle three times in a row every series we will have success on the ground. Maulhardt, Gentry, and Hollister will have big games with their size against AFA's smaller secondary.

Seeing The War nearly full (maybe completely full) on Saturday and playing our second biggest rival ought to be enough to get everyone fired up. I refuse to be negative about this game. Go Pokes, beat the flyboys!

I mean, I get it...but can't the same be said for Wyoming? Three Wins against awful opponents, one really bad loss...few teams in the MW can point to SOS as a reason they're strong.

Yeah, the thing with Air Force is that they've taken care of business against all their opponents so far, whereas we haven't.

If I've come to learn one thing about this team, it's that whenever my expectations go up, I end up drinking and wanting to forget all things football.

You are both right. They are going to do whatever works and we are going to do the same. Whichever team shuts down the other's offense and has the fewest mistakes & turnovers is going to win this game. I think there will be a lot of "feeling out" going on in the first two possessions of this game. Here's hoping our special teams have a very good day.

No one believed me when I said we were not going to open up the playbook until CSU. In regards to blocking scheme and playcalling, CSU hadn't seen any of that on film from our first 3 games.

You were right.

I was wondering why Hollister wasn't a bigger part of the game plan, and posted several times if we we're saving the tight end/fullback passing scheme for CSU. Sure enough, we we're.

We'll need more of that to beat AFA. AFA pursues the ball heavily, they blitz often to fill gaps, and they pack the box.

Hopefully the coaches have some tricky screens to beat the blitzes, some reverses to keep their defense from over-pursuing, and some play action passes to loosen up the box.

just heard from an Air Force player, saying they don't like us, probably cuz they are losing, we need to find that number and such as he's a beoooch. LOL
