Thoughts on the game

1. That was unacceptable. This game was a complete failure from top to bottom - scheme, effort, execution, preparation, players - everything involved with the play on the field. I'd go over every negative, but it would just upset me.

2. BYU does what they do a lot better than Wyoming does what they do. In terms of executing a system to a tee, BYU is only second to Air Force. Every player knows exactly what they need to do on every play.

3. I hope everyone learns from this game - otherwise it truly will be a disaster. And I hope everyone involved will remember how this feels, remember it, and feed off it for the rest of their careers at UW to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.

4. Recently I posted about getting people in the stands. Someone else pointed this out already, but it's worth noting - games like this KILL attendance. At its base, people go to the games to be entertained, and there's nothing entertaining about watching their team get slaughtered. In two weeks Wyoming plays TCU, and after this game, I don't see much hope of Wyoming keeping it close. I'll be at the game - but because I have season tickets and live 2 hours away. However, I will not hold it against anyone if they don't plan on showing up on the 21st after this game.

And so the whole post isn't a downer -

The halftime show was probably the best halftime show I've ever seen at UW - everyone doing the Thriller dance was awesome!

I think you hit it on the head. The most discouraging part to me was thinking back to 2 years ago. We had lost at Utah 50-0 the week before. At the 1/2, we're down to byu 21-3 and I hear Dave and Kevin say "it's better than last week". I thought that was the bottom. I was wrong.

Look at the offense this year. We've been shut out at Airforce, yesterday, and at CU. The offense scored no points in the Texas game (blocked punt and field goal set up by failed fake punt). We got a big 10 points at Utah. This is a really boring thing to watch. When Tiller was here, we had terrible defense some years but we scored a lot. It was entertaining.

At Air farce this year, the score is 3-0 after 3 quarters. I was yawning. Close game - yes, but I'm not a soccer fan who is intrigued with 1-0 scores. I question this spread option thing. It's not working at Michigan for the last 2 years. Can it work here? I don''t know. Someone explain to me how long (2 or 3 or 4 years) we have to wait before we expect some progress. We're staring at a season ending 6 straight loses if things continue. I have a season ticket also. But it's going to be a real struggle to force myself to drive 80 miles to Laramie in 2 weeks.

Some great points being made on this thread.

Worst part for me-

1) I drive 800 miles round trip to games in Laramie. I pulled the plug on going to the BYU game last second. Thank everything holy I did.

2) This team looked like a COMPLETELY different team than the team I saw play against Utah.

3) I loved Joe Tiller being interviewed. It is good to see he moved back to Wyoming. He said quote "Wyoming just doesn't have the talent to compete, yet." I agree with him. We have some mediocre guys who just can't get it done.

4) Utah is WAAAAAAY overrated. I know we played well against them, but no way they are ranked #14 in nation. With that said, Utah wins every close game they are in...credit there. They find ways to win.

5) I have to go to work tomorrow and hear all of my BYU co-workers taunt me. This part sucks. I lost lots of lunches on this past game on Saturday.

6) No excuses for this:
2006 55-7
2007 35-10
2008 44-0
2009 52-0

That is 186 - 17 over a four year period. PATHETIC. We are BYU's little b!t#@! and they know it.

7) I hope to everything sacred, righteous and holy we didn't have recruits at that game.

8) And last, we have work cut out for us to finish .500 this year. SDSU looks better than expected.

(sigh)......

I have been very positive so far with this years new team. That being said, the effort and lack of fire on Saturday was unacceptable.

There's really no point in going over the details of this game.

I think everyone's expectations were artificially raised against some poor competition at the beginning of the year. These last few games have been a big punch in the face from reality reminding us that we have been a terrible program for the past decade and the issues facing us are bigger than one season. Its going to take awhile before we get ourselves out of the hole we are in.

BYU is the worst match up in the conference for us, which was proved yet again. Match ups do play a big part in all sports, and BYU is simply the absolute worst for Wyoming.

I booked my hotel to drive down to San Diego on Friday, had I waited until Saturday I probably would not be driving down. I hope to see a team come out and play with a pulse.

I just hope they have a short memory. I hope they put it behind them, and come out playing like a team that knows they could become bowl eligible if they win 2 more games. So hopefully they pull their heads out of their asses, get their shit together and get it done, and be competitive in the last 3 games.

I'm hoping to make it down to the game, but I won't know until thursday or friday whether or not I have to work saturday.
