Great effort, especially in the first half. The kids came out and tested themselves. They found out they could hang with Texas. A few less errors and we hang with them the entire game. I was very, very afraid of taking the lead in the game. I thought staying real close was the recipe. I live here in oklahoma and watch a lot of Texas football. When they get punched, they are not scared, it wakes them up. They come back strong. It's probably the greatest character of Mack Brown's Longhorns. I've seen Okla State have Texas down 35-14 at halftime only to lose 52-35!!
Obviously Ruff should've had 2 blocked punts, the first one gave the Longhorns a 1st down. Letting Texas take the lead at halftime was very disappointing. It would've been nice to have bragging rights at halftime. Then instead of D.C saying to the players "you're within 3 of the #2 team in the country; he could've said. You're beating the #2 team in the country. Big difference in terms of mentality. After the effort the kids gave, and still being down 3 at halftime may have said to them, man we can't play much better. The 2nd half opening kickoff cost us any chance in the game; it landed at the 20 and was returned to our 40. There was a crucial play where Benjamin was going to scramble and he had atleast a 30 yard gain if the Olinesman just blocks his man. Instead the defender made a helluva tackle around the blocker to get Benjamin or 3rd down. It was a huge play and very disappointing. Very disappointed he didn't block him, instead just kind of stood there. I'm not a huge fan of Prosinski. I've really not seen him make any standout plays. I did see him out of position a couple times. Fletcher had to have that sack of Colt McCoy that he could've showed his kids later on in life. Instead he misses, and TD. We had a ton of 2nd and short turn into punting situations. Our offense never scored. If Benjamin and Colt McCoy traded jerseys for the day Texas still wins big. We still don't have the WR's. They have held this team back for a few years now. I do think Bolling will be a big addition. Wish we had him against Texas. The only WR to legitimately have a chance to get a TD against Texas. Overall, I'm proud of the effort. Will we get the same effort this week? We have to have a win this week. Benjamin is a good QB, he needs most of the snaps this year. I'm disappointed in the scoreboard. however. D.C. says no one remembers the score just who wins. That can't be further from the truth. It's all about style points in Football. I would've much rather lost 34-17 to Texas and beaten Weber 26-7. Lets get the scoreboard right. I promise you Texas fans would've been upset if they didn't run it up to atleast 40 on us.
