Thoughts after the Akron game...

I usually never like to blame a game on the refs and we could have probably still lost, but that was one of the worst officiated basketball games I have ever seen, hands down. Horrible, horrible officiating.

This was my first game this year, and my thoughts on the team.

- Way too many lost possessions on unforced turnovers. Its one thing to miss a shot, its another thing to not even get a shot off because you turned the ball over.

- I have not seen Luster play yet and didn't know he was out. That being said, it was PAINFULLY obvious that this team lacks a PG who can set up an offense and provide a deep threat from downtown. The difference in the game was the ability of Akron's PGs to set up their offense and knock down the big 3 when needed. It appears we have no backup PG.

- Sylla needs to work on his hand-eye coordination. He had several rebounds simply slip through his hands.

- I think the team can come along in the next couple years if they find a PG who can knock down a 3. The guys on the team are quick and pretty good at driving to the basket.

- I thought the press worked pretty well and I was impressed with it. It seemed to disrupt Akron's offense pretty well.

Showed some fight in the second half but couldn't hold on.. Could be tough for the 2010 part of the schedule.

If we could only shoot the ball. Akron shot over 50% from the arc and we shot under 20%. This team could be competitive if we can hit over 30% from 3 pt land and commit fewer than 15 turnovers. Is that too much to ask?

Typically, refs are what they are. Decent, horrible, consistently shitty, great, whatever. But last nights crew was the worst maybe I had seen...since I can remember.

There were two (in the last 10 minutes of the game) 5 point swings that I thought ended up costing UW the game. All decided by very, very poor calls.

Your not the only one who thinks that. We lost that game, and people are quickly forgetting about the loss and only talking about the officiating of the game. It was bad....
