NDSU basketball just got a $41 MILLION arena approved today and went out and beat Notre Dame!!

so NDSU basketball arena will trump that septic sewage building you play in..

There are plans to remodel the AA.......and, it is not a terrible venue now. It will be rocking this season with Shyatt coaching the Pokes.
Yep. There's a reason why its nicknamed the "Dome of Doom". More than a few ranked teams come in and then leave not ranked, or significantly lower than they were before entering.

Go away FCS boy. And 41 million? Bragging about 41 million? You building a pole barn or a quonset hut?

Peachy....cmon man. all the WYO fans have been cool and welcoming Bisonation into Wyonation.

chill out and embrace the fact that Wyoming can expand it's fanbase into NDSU and Minnesota with your new coach!!

thanks!

You're the one that called our Basketball Arena a "septic sewage building"...

The arena auditorium is already a decent place for basketball and seats 15,000 compared to Bison sports arena which seats 6,000. I'm sure the 41 million will get you a decent arena though.

After this season is over Wyoming is remodeling the Arena Auditorium and it will look like this:

Yeah they guy that got kicked off the team for curb stomping a guy and ruined a 13-0 #25 season? Yeah he's awesome!!

Well, apparently, that's his "boy"!

Pathetic.

I'm kind of surprised the Pokes are doing as well as they are up to now. That kind of incident is what sets programs back years. Hopefully L.N. Jr.and the rest have put it behind them.

This year's Wyoming team is going to be better than last years team.
They have, without a doubt, put it behind them. That's a totally irrelevant thing to this seasons team.

I kind of get that feeling from what I read. that speaks well of the coaching staff. Look forward to getting to Laramie for a game or two.

well that's what my boy Martinez from Bismarck said that's on your team.... with that round top

Him have too much firewater.

Was never impressed with him anyway - just another Schroyer headcase recruit that fizzled.

yea, he was a Mandan kid, firewater for sure!

NDSU & Wyoming basketball are pretty even (we played 2 years ago to a 2 point loss?)

NDSU is on Minneapolis sports page for beating Notre Dame and Coach Bohl article telling ndsu players "theres no time for a pity party". ha ha. http://www.startribune.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

NDSU is not anywhere near Wyo in hoops.

2 years ago Wyo was not all that good. No depth. Last year either.
Wyo was "good" but not that good.

Wyo would throttle NDSU this season.

Or that UW has poor facilities compared to the rest of the MWC should shut their goddamned pie holes until they do some research.

End rant.

I think that the fact NDSU has a domed field and we do not lends some substance to that argument. We have an indoor practice facility, but our games are outdoors and that has historically limited our end-of-season home games when the conference championship would be on the line.

I have learned, over time, to understand why an enclosed field might make more sense in Laramie than I used to think.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone remember that we tried to hire NDSU's President back during the fiasco that ended with Buchanan as University President?

I bet if we actually played a late season game when the conference championship was on the line people would show up regardless of the weather.
I don't think a domed stadium is ever going to happen in Laramie. I'm good with that.

And I don't think a 19K indoor stadium tips anything on the facilities scale in NDSU's favor at all. It's a fine facility for their program and level of competition but come on.
Anybody remember UTEP in 1987 or 1988? Game was in December and the conference title was on the line....and the WAR was sold out.

That game was on November 5th. I remember it well for personal reasons. Just like I vividly remember that the WAC championship game against BYU was on December 7, 1996.

Last time I checked, the official capacity for War Memorial is down to below 30K following the renovations. Sadly, a 19K-seat stadium would hold way too many UW crowds. I like that we at least have a stadium designed to hold good crowds for a really good team. That is why I really hate the 30% downsize planned for the A-A. Right now our basketball venue has an aspirational capacity that we do fill with a competitive team playing a big game.

The reason they are downsizing is to get more of a home court advantage. I think the thought is to get the crowd right on top of the court like at CSU.

Lowering the capacity to 12k at the AA is the right thing to do. We extremely rarely get to 15k and rarely even get to 12k. 12k is still one of the bigger basketball arenas in this area, and I think that is a good number. If we lowered it to around 10k then it would be a problem, but 12k will be a good size for us.

The hilarious thing is that the IPF might end up not particularly useful except as a recruiting tool. As I understand it Bohl held the majority of his practices outdoors at Fargo despite having the Fargodome available to toughen his guys up.

"Yes, prospective recruit, that is an indoor practice facility that measures up to just about any in the country. You will rarely set foot in it because practicing in that environment doesn't put hair on your chest. Practicing in 20 degree weather with a couple of inches of snow on the ground does. But we have it as a luxury item."
I'm sorry, but this is a ridiculous statement.

NDSU practices outdoors because it has an outdoor practice facility. Wyoming practices indoors because it has an indoors practice facility.

That's all there is to it. If NDSU had an indoor practice facility, I'm fairly certain they would practice indoors.
