There is not a single coach that should not be fired

I heard sawvel cornered a woman at a bar and there was a bad incident. Not joking. Hopefully that is enough to fire him for cause
I had someone at a hotel bar in Fort Collins tell me last night that he has a history of this since he has been at Wyoming. Maybe not a bad incident, but that he has a history of making women very uncomfortable at bars in Laramie.

Wow - well definitely sounds like it is making its way around if an out of towner even hears it. Very interesting and maybe there is something to it.

As much as I would love to move on from Sawvel, I genuinely hope UW does not go on a witch hunt trying to find a bogus reason not to pay him.

Burman signed a horrible contract. He is going to have to man up and pay Sawvel to leave.

I know the victim too
bGw
lol right! Desperate times call for desperate measures

Character matters but I smell a nasty rumor being planted to undermine an unpopular coach. As someone else posted if you want to fire Sawvel for performance I am with you, but I have some serious doubts that vague accusations of misconduct are needed to make it more palatable

Grant, Johnson and Bohl need to be fired, at a minimum. I’m all for a house cleaning. He had every advantage this year and picked wrong every time.

Ball State fired their coach today. Didn't even wait for the season to end. We are about to endure a 2 win season. I don't care if Sawvel is a Saint who helps little old ladies cross the street. Get rid of him now. Let Bouknight coach the team the last 2 games.
There's a few others that have already moved on. We won't because we're WYO. Someone said it, maybe WYO isn't for me.

The "me too" movement ruined a lot of lives. Not going there. But back to football, if that dude is on the sideline for the remaining games, it will convey a really bad message. Removing him now seems, sadly, the right thing to do to convey a winning message...we won't take this crap. What a shit show. The damage that has been done will take years and years to undo in a really challenging marketplace.

He's single, right? I couldn't even imagine trying to date at my age. Remember, the difference between flirting and harassment is usually how attractive the guy is.

Before any of our resident liberal white knights jump in, yes, I do realize not always.

Is it good for a man who is high profile and paid millions, the highest paid employee in the state of Wyoming, to be out drinking at bars and hitting on women. Seems too low brow for a man of his supposed status

Unless one of you have 80%, it’s a moot point. Guess I’ll have to go back to lighting candles and hoping for a miracle.
Since 2024 has been paid, the buyout is only $3,760,000.

Burman needs to sit him down and ask him if he is going to fight for every penny or go away at a reduced buyout if there is any commitment to “put some of that money back into football”. Burman can make sure he ruins Sawville’s reputation unless Sawville lives up to the nice guy reputation he paints himself to be.

I am sure Sawville can get a $150,000 per year DC job at a place like Kennesaw State so he won’t go hungry. With a reduced buyout and his first year salary he will be set for life if he doesn’t squander it.

This really bothers me to say it, but if Sawville is retained ticket sales need to slump severely. That is the only vote the fans have. Fans may want to start sending their emails to Burman with a vote of no confidence and a threat to not renew now to find out what pile of pennies Burman takes seriously.

Is there a reason you call Sawvel ‘Sawville’?

You’re suggesting that Burman call Sawvel into his office and state ‘I will ruin your reputation if you don’t agree to to leave and take less money than you are entitled to under your contract’? If that’s the case - where do I sign up to be Sawvel’s attorney to sue Burman and the University. That could turn into one heck of a payday.

I am curious whether Burman reads message boards like this one. If he isn't taking the temperature of the fan base, then I see that as burying his head in the sand. Or its arrogance. For the first time in 30 years, I had no idea that Wyoming played on Friday...wasn't on my radar. On Saturday I checked the internet to find the game time...and saw all the headlines.

Scariest thing is almost everyone saw it during the ASU game. This team was a disaster from day one. Burman should have reacted sooner.

Burman reads ticket sales. He will go to the Board and proudly report how all of ‘his’ hard work led to a great year for attendance at Wyoming football. Not mentioning that weather was the most important factor this year.

Probably the best protest would be for no one to show up to the Boise game. But it’s senior day and a chance to watch a heisman hopeful run for 400 years against this defense so I’m not sure that’s the best answer either.

Out of curiosity, why does it matter? I've seen it spelled Swavel, Sawvell, Sawville, etc. Between him and Svoboda, these are tricky names (especially when spell check kicks in). I think everyone knows who he is talking about.

Do contracts matter in sports? Reminds me of when Larry Shyatt (note, no 'c') left for Clemson or wherever because someone forgot to sign his contract. Not sure how that would work out today. As for Sawvel, there is a level of negligence that is hard to imagine. If contracts do matter, someone should call the Mountain West and the PAC 12.
