Theo Dawson update

I just got a call from my son and Coach Bohl will be in Lander tomorrow to watch Theo play us.

I'd love to see the kid in Brown and Gold!

This is one of the biggest decisions in his life. If he were my son, I'd encourage him to look around a little and see what is the best fit. It isn't all about football.

Wishing him the best in his Senior year and hope he has a highly successful collegiate career on and off the field wherever it might be!

Tevis Bartlett would sure look nice playing in the middle of our defense right now...but he chose the wrong UW. Now, he's nothing more than an afterthought. Out of sight, out of mind.

Playing as a true freshman for a middle to upper-Pac-12 team...not necessarily an afterthought. Unless you meant an afterthought in your mind; in which case, fair enough.

As teams CURRENTLY SIT...IF, the following teams came calling, and you got to CHOOSE where to go, how would you rank the following schools? Please, be realistic. Think of education, national attention, etc.

Here are my rankings. I grew up a Pokes fan. Been a huge fan for decades. If I take off my homer glasses, this is probably my ranking (considering the degree,the attention for possible next stage, proximity to family, etc).

If Theo goes to Stanford or Utah over Wyoming...although sucky, it is understandable. If he chooses Dartmouth or MSU over Wyoming...good luck with that.

I would much rather throw out an offer and have them consider us, even if they choose somewhere else, than swing and miss and not even offer (i.e. Jaycee Carroll in bball).

Stanford and then Utah or Northwestern depending on depth chart and such. If I'm unlikely to go pro, I'd strongly consider Dartmouth. AF isn't my thing but if it was, they would be ahead of Dartmouth (for me, they would be last).

Wow, guys. This crap looks great to any kid that might be considering playing for the Cowboys. You guys are really portraying the school in a good way. UW is a fantastic school that can afford you pretty much any opportunity you could want to have academically. There are tons of reasons to come to UW and among them is an increased commitment to football excellence (45m facility FOR FOOTBALL!).

Exactly my point. It doesn't matter where you do your undergrad for the most part. Doctors, lawyers, dentists, CEOs all come from the University of Wyoming. And you will save a bunch of $$ by going to Wyoming. If my kid wanted to go to Stanford and I had to pay - no way. I would send him to Wyoming every time and tell him to save $$, get good grades and get into the professional school you want.

And mind you, this game was fairly close the whole time, so he didn't come in just in garbage time.

I would potentially turn down Utah for Wyoming... I would have a hard time not picking Stanford. Dartmouth also if I didn't think I had any professional potential. And not because I think any less of UW's academics, more the network that goes along with graduating from schools like that which are I don't know top 5 in the WORLD. I could have gone to many schools, maybe not those, but just about any others but I went to UW because I like small college towns (Laramie is one of best there is), the mountains, it has FBS football, and it's a great school at a great price. My kids will be encouraged to go there, and my sister went there because I liked it so much. I wouldn't go to any other school in the country if I did it all over again, except maybe Stanford.
