I seen this on another board and thought it might be fun to try out here.

If you could form a conference for UW to play in who else would be in it?? Try to keep the league at or under 12 teams. Also what would you name your new league?

I'll start:
UW, csu, af, unm, utah, boise, unlv, nevada, utep, arizona, arizona st, tcu

Mine would be this.....the American Pacific Athletic Conference.

Mountain Division
Wyoming
TCU
CSU
Air Force
Texas Tech
New Mexico

Pacific Division
Arizona
Arizona State
Boise State
BYU aka the Basterds
Hawaii
Utah

If we needed 16 teams just add UNLV and San Diego State to the Pacific and both Kansas schools to the Mountain.

Mountain

Wyoming
Sheep
Flyboys
Fluffaloes
Lobos
Miners
Red Raiders

West
Utards
Bring Em Young
USU Shamggies
The not so Devil Sundevils
Arizona Kitties
Runnin Wannabe Rebels
Asstics

Hows that for geographical? For an Eastern approach...

Mountain

Wyoming
Sheep
Flyboys
Fluffaloes
Lost Lobos
Whiner Miners
Wed Waiders!

Central

Cornfuckers
Tweedle Dee (KU)
Tweedle Dum (KSU)
Wannabe Cowboys
Houston, we have a problem
Schmoo
TCWho!

Also, a pretty regional conference. Mountain vs Central time zones.

Western Athletic Conference
Wyoming
CSU
Air Force
Colorado
Colorado School of Mines
Nebraska
Montana
Utah
Hawaii
UNLV
New Mexico
UTEP

...and here is the Other Western Athletic Conference
BYU
Boise State
New Mexico Highlands
Eastern New Mexico
Fort Lewis
Dixie State
Oklahoma Panhandle State
Peru State
Cal Lutheran
East Texas Baptist

1. Wyo
2. Neb
3.SDSU
4. CSU
5. AFA
6. KU
7. KSU
8. OU
9. OSU
10. Baylor
11. TCU
12. UNLV
13. UNM

I know we had 12 min. But, I couldn't resist 2 Texas schools.
Honestly, if this became a mega conference I would add: Nevada, Boise St. (But leary due to being sellouts in every conference they are in), And either Utep or NMST for UNM. I would add these mostly for rivalry purposes. If I wanted it to be to add better programs I'd do: Oregon, Oreg. St. and Fresno St.

Some big names in these conferences. Obviously its all fantasy at best, but man the Pokes would be known as everyone's extra home game with those caliber of programs coming to Laramie.

Back to reality, I'm really curious as to where Wyo ends up in this realignment debacle. Its not looking good to this point. You hope the conference would involve CSU, AFA, UNM, and the other schools with long-standing relationships with UW. Still disappointed UTEP didn't join the MWC. They still might if the MWC gets poached again.

According to everything that I've been hearing, the conferences are waiting on exit fees, and than will consolidate, and according to a couple of statements by UTEPs AD and HC, UTEP will be coming over in the next couple of years.

Ill get some flak for this but I always wanted to see a powerful Wyoming Team in the Big 12 before Colo and Neb left minus anything from Iowa and add in AFA and CSU

Why would you catch flak for that? These conferences posted are never going to happen fantasies at best. Nothing's off-limits....The only thing they all have in common is that Wyoming is one of the included schools that clearly does not belong.

I always liked "Mountain West" as a conference name but I do not much care what the name is. That is for the marketing gerus. How about a membership and alignment that looks something like this:

North
Wyoming
CSU
Colorado
AFA
Utah
Utah State

South
BYU
New Mexico
New Mexico State
Arizona
Arizona State
Nevada

I could also tolerate finding room for UNLV, Idaho, , Montana/Montana State and/or UTEP if they are interested. No converted Junior College (i.e. Boise State, Fresno State, San Jose State, etc. would deserve to be included in this kind of group.)

Then why are you including unlv?

Because I thought it looked like they were a little more legitimate as a real, public research university than either Boise State or San Jose State. I am not dogmatic and if the consensus is that UNLV is at the same level as Boise State (Jr.) College, then I am all for throwing them overboard.

The point here is that I do not think it makes sense to include schools that primarily exist to offer college credit opportunities to students that cannot gain admission to the schools in the rest of the conference for academic reasons. Sure every school has differing admissions standards, but some of those Cal State schools aren't even supposed to be for the kind of students that one typically finds at places like Wyoming, Nevada, CSU, or New Mexico. I say this with the full realization that there are several schools that would not even admit the average freshman at UW.

I certainly do not want anyone in the conference that is going to whine about elevation and dry air.
