First eppisode aired these guys are competing for a shot to play in the U.S. Army all american game Bennett looks good his dad is in the episode a lot

I coached with his dad. CJ is a top notch kid. He is excited to play for Wyoming. Don't know if the staff will redshirt him being you are starting a freshmen, but I wouldn't, kid has got everything but the size. I also know he is recruiting one of the top wr's in our county to go with him. Very interesting TV show, wonder who wins and goes to the Army AA game. I've followed this young man from the youth leagues and he deserves to be mentioned with the best.

That's great. He sounds like he's got everything it takes to be successful at the college level. He should definitely increase the level of competition with ACS and Benjamin as soon as he arrives. What's the name of the wide receiver he's trying to bring with him, if you don't mind my asking.

After I made a phone call found out there is actually 2 kids. One is Justen "Black Magic" Davis, who has an offer from Louisville. He is on CJ's team. The other is Alan Sampson from state champion Plant HS. Sampson is small but the absolute scariest player in the county. He's lightning and would fit in the slot just fine. Got a feeling CJ can open some doors to the Florida kids for you guys. He's well liked in the county and statewide and I know our head coach will be calling your recruiting coordinator with some players names.

Could you elaborate on that comment a bit? Is he going to be too small for FBS level? And is he actually 6'0? Carta-Samuels is listed at 6'2, but that is very generous, I think he's closer to 5'11. If he is actually 6'0, he should be OK although it'd be nice if he had another inch or two.

I was with one of my players at the Florida St. camp and saw with my own eyes CJ measured at 6'0" 198. In my opinion and more than a few college coaches, if this kid was 6'2" he'd be at a major school like Florida. Only saw him play one game this year and his mobility has improved tremendously. But then again the system that he plays in is known down in these parts to get the snap and throw. 1 step drops and out. I did see him at Friday night lights camp at the U of Florida. The cream of the crop in the country was there and he was without a doubt one of the top 2 QB's there ( that was also backed up by a few reporters). I'm telling you, you'll be happy with this kid, he's a gamer against great competition.

Thanks Steelbed58. I believe he will have a great coaching staff here at UW to work with him. They have many holes on this team, but they are taking steps to shore up those weaknesses and quickly. C.J. Bennett will be playing on a top team soon.

Thanks for posting the info! :thumb:

maybe I am wrong, but does anyone else feel this is kind of hokie? Meaning, our possible future QB is on a reality tv show. I don't know, I am probably over analyzing it, but it just seems kind of strange to me.

did he choose to be on the show? either way i think its cool gets us attention also they all seem to be in agreement that he is one of the top 2 it looks like he will move on to top gun looks like a stud in the making

He wouldn't be the first Wyo athlete....Jay Straight was also on a documentary/reality show also during his High School career and during his decision to come to Wyo.

I don't get why this wouldn't be a good thing. He's spending time being coached by some of the best QB coaches in the nation. Today they said something like "At the VERY WORST CJ could be a quality backup for any SEC school"

i dont think it is hokie because he is competing to play in all america game, something we should want out of all our players. the only way it would be bad is if he came across like the california qb who seems to be a pretty boy and unfocused. i like that he is willing to compete against the best.

Bump. New episode in case anyone cares. Not as much fun since the de-commit but intriguing none the less.

Pretty sure they didn't have these kind of camps when I was in HS.
