The Next Head Coach Of The Wyoming Cowboys?

I don't think we are that far from being a dang good football team. We have a lot for skill positions on offense. At least the next coach has something to work off of. Facilities are good upgrades continue across campus and hopefully the new president will rally for more funding.

I hate to do this before a coach is fired because I want CDC to pull his head out and win win the last 3 games then pull everything together next year for a conference championship but I don't have a whole lot of faith left anymore. SO I figured I would get my thoughts in.

I don't have a specific name for head coach. Would perfer someone with D1 experience that is defensive minded and is willing to be hands off on the Offensive side of the ball. Then we hire Bob Stitt from Colorado School of mines to be the O-coordinator. He is an offensive innovator and is has people from major schools stealing his ideas.

I want an FBS coach and staff. Ball State or somebody like that.

Did you see the game last night?

Lembo's halftime adjustments looked eerily similar to something we have all been witnessing in Laramie. And so did Ball State's defense. I was surprised - first time I had seen Ball State this season.

So if the guy loses a game, then he's just not the guy for you, huh?
I don't know a coach who makes Massive halftime adjustments like you think they should.

I was at the pokes game. I saw what happened in the fourth quarter. I mean yeah that's not good but what are they now like 9-2 and beating up on a comparable good MAC with dudes recruited to Muncie, IN. Ever been to Muncie? I have, in fact I almost lived there. Northern Illinois owns everyone in that conference right now. If we had the balls I'd throw money at Carey too, which I suggested also. We need coaches with already complete staffs that come from a winning culture.

I'd take it in a heartbeat! The school could save money too. None of this 300k-1.2m a year. Give me a flat 100k a year, money to throw at assistants and recruiting and I'd give you a successful offense with formations of which you've never seen in Laramie. I'd fight for a strong D- coord who was all about keeping your man in front of you and wrapping up. And I'm having my CBs and Safeties do catching drills and route running with the WRs so they fully understand the routes they will be defending and can CATCH the ball!!!

I'm dedicated to the UW program which means if I have success, I'm not going anywhere! And if, by chance, I cannot succeed I will step down if there is something better.

That felt good to get out of my system.

Okay, moving on.

Although Pat Hill got stale in Fresno, he can flat out recruit, especially the "diamonds in the rough". He also doesn't let his star QB's get so beat up that they are tentative.

Every "O" player on the field for Fresno last night, except got RB, was recruited by PH. Davante Adams the Wr & Jensen the TE were basically only recruited by Fresno. PH is a great judge of talent, he recruits athletic ability first...

somth'in to think about.... He's not perfect, but his teams always have talent
And always under achieved too.

From Wiki:

...Pat Hill has 17 wins over BCS automatic qualifying conference teams, which is tied for the most wins for any non-automatic qualifier with Utah...

I'd take Pat Hill in a second. Then again, I'd take almost anyone over this disaster.

Take a look at his last few years at Fresno.

Yep. Was sitting on a gold mine of talent (Carr, Harper, Burse, Adams, etc.) and sucked balls.

He could recruit though. DeRuyter has not proven he can get guys like that.

Yeah, not denying he couldn't recruit, and he definitly recognised talent, particularly NFL, but his coaching was going downhill the last few years and ended with a losing season before getting the ax.

8-5 bowl game
8-5 bowl game
4-9 fired, FSU didn't screw around, and now look where they are, while we still want to see next season etc...

Only 3 losing seasons and 11 bowl games in 15 years, I'll take PH over DC any day.

Really? Honestly? That is what you gleaned from my post? It is apparent you are just trying to stir shit again.

I'm done.

did everyone hear that collective "sigh" of relief and that galeforce wind coming down the gangplank into Cheyenne last night when Sternberg stepped down, Burman has to be skipping all the way to work today, and DC is happier too

I didn't try to stir anything. I asked you a question. I'm not sure what fans are actually expecting halftime adjustments to be. I'm an offensive coord myself, so please, enlighten me? This so far is just showing me that no matter what I write you see it as negative.

Ok...

I posted that this was the first time I had seen Ball State this season. I watched the entire game. Ball State looked much different in their approach the second half, vs. the first half. It was like they (Lembo) put the brakes on - and turned conservative. When in reality, I think it was NIU's adjustments, and Ball States lack of doing the same, that made the second half run as it did. I have been around football coaching as well for the greater part of 10 years - and although I am currently not involved (nor will never be again), I am far from being just an uneducated fan of the game and it's inner-workings. The Ball State / NIU game was very similar to what I saw of Wyoming / Texas State and Wyoming / Fresno State.
