The Cheyenne newspaper's front page story today is entitled "Sternber's departure leaves UW with hefty bill." I am trying to decide how much that issue will impact any football coaching coaching decision. http://wyomingnews.com/articles/2013/11/24/news/01top_11-24-13.txt

Poor attendance loes money, but so does paying coaches who are no longer coaching.

Sure, the win-loss record is a big deal, but so is the budget.

I think it comes down to whether a donor pays for DCs exit.
Hopefully, our donors hold out at least until Burman is fired.

There is no point in getting rid of DC if Burman makes the next hire.
Let Shyatt do it.

Why? So you limit what I can say, but if I am being attacked you just stay out of it?

Because I'm a moderator which means I have to stay neutral.

I do have my opinions about ALL of this. I'm just smart enough to keep my mouth shut!
You haven't though.

Here's a hypothetical for you...

Suppose the Pokes pull off the win in Logan and don't get a bowl invite or even if we don't get the win in Logan, but the offense puts up the video game numbers that we did this last week. Can CDC point to the "report" and argue that if he had the money to bring in a quality DC for this next year with the increased salary budget for assistants, that the results on the defensive side of the ball has the distinct possibility of changing for the better given he has the ability to bring in a "name" DC?

I think that this report can still be used by CDC as a "see, I told you I didn't have all the tools I needed" kind of leverage to keep his job...

I think there's a good chance he might be able to argue that.
But the only 2 games that Wyo lost while putting up big numbers are Nebraska (34-37) and SJSU (44-51).

The one or two more stops argument would mean Wyo would only be 7-4 right now. But who knows?
He did hire Bill Young.

I think they would have a tough time canning DC if he finishes 6-6.

Has there ever been a Wyoming coach canned in his final year for going .500? Doubt it.

The next 7 days will be very interesting for this football program. We actually have something to look forward to with this Utah State game.

-Bowl eligibility
-Rivalry Trophy game
-Decides DC's fate

If we win, I think DC keeps his job. If we lose, I think there will be a press release Sunday. A ton to look forward to as a fan this week!!
If we win and go to a bowl- Christensen will coach in the bowl game. If he loses the bowl game, he'll be gone next season.

Now, it's entirely possible that even with a 6-6 record, no bowl invitation comes. If that's the case, I'd say Christensen's job is a coin toss. This means, depending on who we might draw in a bowl game, Christensen might have a better chance of keeping his job if he goes 6-6 and Wyoming gets snubbed.
