The Mountain West Conference keeps its Commissioner

Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson has been linked to the Minnesota athletics director job over the years since he is an alumni of the Big Ten school, and contrary to some people he has done a pretty solid job running the Mountain West.

The Minnesota position is currently open as now former Golden Gopher athletic director Norwood Teague resigned earlier in August for sexual harassment.

Thompson is likely to be at the top of that list due to his ties and hold a conference commissioner job, but the interest is not there on both fronts. Dennis Dodd of CBSSports.com has learned that Thompson has no interest in returning to his alma mater, even if it is a Big Ten job.

Can't say I blame him. Teague not only went down, he went out in blazing fashion. The next AD is going to have some bitter people to deal with in sports that don't start with foot or basket; and will be under the finest microscope this side of CERN...

Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing. I will give him credit for sniffing out the project and getting FSU and NV on board while sending byu to the WCC. Brilliant move.

Without thinking too hard, it might be the only one he did (that comes to my mind). Him and old Benson had some rounds and he at least killed off Benson in the West.

I think the MWC would benefit from new blood, however.
