The High Octane DC / Arroyo Spread Offense:

"But they still are among the nation’s worst offensively. Out of 120 teams, UW is 119th in total offense (250.6 ypg), 118th in rushing (68 ypg) and 115th in scoring (15 points per game)."

I suppose it shouldn't have, but these stats shocked me.

Many will say it is the level of competition we played / start of the year jitters / lack of talent to run the spread / o-line blocking / gameplan in general / mistakes / defense on the field too long / etc...

Whatever it is, whether one reason, or all of them, it sure is disappointing.

Ya but were 2 and 3 and were nearly 3 and 2. ( I know it is a what if, but we could have won against air force). I guess were not really running the spread right now with using an H back (Studnicka & Saydjari) and the power game splits. I guess in the end I don't care what the stats are as long as we win, and I am not saying we are doing very well. I would like it if we didn't get destroyed by good teams but I can live with making progress,

I have to say, a lot of people are complaining about the offense. Just to give a little perspective, I live out here in Columbia, MO. I have watched the Mizzou offense operate up close, and the personnel the POKES have currently is not ANYWHERE CLOSE to what Mizzou has. There is absolutely no way with the current guys we have on offense that the POKES or Coach C can run the spread as he ran it at Mizzou right now. It's not an excuse, it's a fact. I give Coach C some credit for adapting his style to try and fit the guys he currently has. It took him and Pinkel a long time to get Mizzou to where it is today. I know it's hard to be patient, but at least he's making adjustments, something Coach Glenn really did not do that well during his time at Wyoming.

As a disclaimer, I don't know Coach C. I'm a Wyoming transplant, but he's very highly regarded here in Columbia. Having seen both Mizzou and Wyoming play in the last year, I feel my observations are pretty spot on. Give Coach C and the staff a couple more years, and you'll see the spread offense in its entirety you were waiting for.

Iv'e been thinking - Is this Vic Koennig in DC clothing? Or is Vic's ghost haunting the Pokes? But then I think maybe not - A simple reverse was considerd a "trick play" by Vic (EVERY play shold be considerd a trick play insofar as you want to conceal from the defense what you are doing)
