The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

As for the lines...I have to say people are not the wisest. We came from the north of the Stadium (after our pregame nachos and a beer or two) and we saw the lines at the IPF. Instead of queuing up, we simply walked the length of the stadium and went in the SE entrance after a mere 2-3 minute wait. Even there, people were in one long line instead of several lines (two of the ticket takers were idle, everybody wanted to go through the SAME LINE) for some reason.

We got to the game later than we normally do, but still made it to the 50 yard line on time to see the Cowboys run onto the field.

For the record, had THAT line been too long we would have gone through the SW entrance. Walking a few hundred extra feet won't kill me...

I agree about the game day experience. I don't like the IP being used for pre game "tailgate park" at all. A couple thousand people didn't get to see the Pokes come on the field nor the first plays. How come those lines are so long and take so much time to get into the stadium this year? Sound system almost non existent as it only came from the north and you couldn't understand or hear a thing. Yes, south scoreboard useless. I would like to see the names on the jerseys.

Pat
The parking situation is a joke, the gate experience was ridiculous, the concessions on the west are atrocious. I don't get why with all the money we have as a university why we haven't put in a system that makes entering the stadium more streamlined and updated the lower western half of the stadiums concessions. Its embarrassing.

Why would it be a minor miracle? We're 1-0, beat a very very good Montana team that would easily beat three or four of the other MWC teams, and are still learning the systems. This is Bohl system, we're going to get into dog fights and win ugly. Isn't winning ugly better than losing pretty? Were not going to run the table but were gonna win games and be in the bowl hunt
Very very good? UM is a good team, but Wyoming will surely play 9-10 teams that are better going forward. Slim victories over FCS schools are rarely an indicator that a bowl-type season is ahead. I think the Air Force game will give more clarity, but I think this team, while much improved in certain areas, is walking on thin ice. A few injuries away from things getting really bad.

Last year, we had a moral victory against a powerhouse. Everyone was giddy about our chances for the year and a high octane offense.

This year we have an actual victory against an FCS team and many are hitting the panic button.

 pretty stark contrast.

AF will be a good gauge...just like last year. Hahahaha

Our opponents strength rating was higher for Montana than it is for airforce. For what it's worth...

I was generally happy with the game...

As for the gameday experience, I would offer several things:

(1) the sound system SUCKS.
(2) concessions and facilities on the West side SUCK.
(3) it still chaps my butt that the fat cats in the Wildcatter can drink beer and the rest of us cannot.
(4) the band is very good. Kudos for building it up. Now let them play and cut the music...most all of it.
(5) thanks for the W-Y-O chant at the beginning...now do more of it.
(6) as for the lines, I started into the game at 1:20 and stood in line for 2 minutes. Fans need to realize that if there is a chance for more than 20k in the stands, they have to start heading into the stadium earlier or risk missing the start.
(7) Montana fans were into the game...Wyoming fans, for the most part, sucked. Granted, the rain delays and early play hurt our excitement, but the War was like a morgue for most of the game. On several second and third downs for Montana, I could hear the QB yelling out the playcall - that is UNACCEPTABLE.
(8) Jack Nokes is a nice guy and I will always appreciate his open mic gaffe after another blunder on special teams during the Koenning years (with the kicker literally kicking the ball into the center's kiester), but he is about as exciting as a funeral officiant. Mind you, I don't want the craptastic announcer that CSU has...but something a bit more vibrant might help the atmosphere.

The good:

Our defense was disciplined and aggressive
Our running backs ran hard and downhill
The FB's had some great lead blocks blowing the hole open
OL looked above average in the running game
The defensive philosophy (keep the ball in front of them and make a play)
Conditioning looked good. Hard to get a great gauge on this because of the delays.

The bad:

In cover 2 our db's were giving them a ten yard cushion. That is fine if they could break down and make an open field tackle. If Montana receivers are juking them, what are they going to do next week?
OL pass blocking was poor. Very slow feet at the tackle position.
QB play was not great. I can accept the fact that he will be asked to manage the game, but slow reads lead to turnovers

Overall, I was pretty happy with what I saw.

I had to throw out a mostly full water bottle I had for my little girl before I could go in and then had to buy $3+ bottle of water. I was pretty pissed

Sound system does suck. South scoreboard just scrolls donor names?? North scoreboard needs to be 3x bigger with sound coming from multiple sources instead of from just scoreboard. I like the idea of TVS in concourse area.

As the team goes, I think we are exactly where most of thought we would be. QB play is questionable and the running game should be decent if our line can open holes against better competition. D looks to be better than last year. Nothing about the game surprised me really.

#6) Agreed. If you don't want to miss kickoff, get your ass into the stadium sooner. No brainer. That's not UW's fault.

#7) I was shocked how many wussbags we had in the stands as well. The lightning delays and little bouts of rain scared a lot of people away. We say we want "cowboy tough" but we can't handle some rain drops? Weak. Embarrassing.

If you don't like the indoor tailgate park, set up shop outside. Plenty of people were outside tailgating. Besides, it looked like the usual area for tailgate park was flooded all to hell.

Whiny little bitches we are.

I had the mobile ticket. They sent me to three different gates. No go.

Waited in ticket line for 20 mins to be told no go. They finally escorted me in and just let me in.

Summary- don't use mobile ticket option. Fail.

Mobile ticket worked for me. I went through about 45 min before kickoff right next to the ticket office section. There was a long line and a short, fast moving line right next to it. Took approx 2 min to get through.

Mobile ticket worked for me too. I barely even stopped moving through the gate.

Even had to text the other ticket to my buddy because he was late, worked great for him as well.

Well, mine sucked. You guys got lucky. There were a handful of us in line with issues.

Some great points...agreed with them all. Adding on:

(9) Replace Jones with Finley. Jones looked horrible (clueless, slow, hesitant, afraid to hit).
(10) I am willing to give the Cap'n another week or 4. Jury is out. I trust Bohl on this one. 4 for a reason.
(11) The "countdown" to sell-out was obviously misleading. There was a disconnect there. Lies.
(12) When did the rain delays become a thing with Cowboy Football? I have never seen happen as much, as it has the last 5 or so years. Global warming?

It's not so much that there'd more lightning than there used to be. It's stricter regulations on what to do when its around.

I used to think it was a bit overkill but when someone got struck by lightning at the RS golf course last spring immediately after they postponed the state soccer tournament, I know it's a necessary move.

25243 with a capacity of 29181

3938 short of a "sell out" - which was roughly 2,500 off from the "sell out meter" marketing thing UW did.

It is what it is...but obviously there is a disconnect somewhere at UW
