Yeah, if by some kind of miracle we're up in the fourth quarter, I don't want us to go super conservative again rather than trying hard to increase the lead. Closing out games is a huge thing for a young team to learn.
Well it goes beyond that too. I mean we're talking first half and at any point we have momentum or opportunity. It kills me when you coach to lose, I hate that shit. If you can go get points then let the negative thoughts of "oh we could turn it over" or "we're lucky to be here" be damned. Go for the W. Wyoming is always gonna have to take risks to knock off top 50 opposition. There's no other way around it right now. Live on the edge and die by the sword swinging.
Brian Hill is our best player, is he not? How is giving the ball to our best player "coaching to lose"?

If the other team knows we're trying to run out the clock by running it up the middle and they stack the box to force us to try something else, and we still run Hill up the middle, then that's not exactly "trying to win," at the very least, but rather "hanging on desperately, fearing to lose."

Settling for a safe 3 and out + punt rather than trying to get first downs and score is a tactic that usually doesn't go over too well for teams that are facing opposition that's considered slightly superior.

I was referring more to our past in coaching to lose then the present. It can still happen at any time though man on both sides of the ball. We need an edginess about us to win this game, or maybe we just go in there and steamroll Nebraska??? That would be nice but even still it would require an edgy game plan/execution imo.

After reading the week 2 breakdown for CFB.

Wyoming (+24.5) at Nebraska: Wyoming looked pretty good in an opening win against Northern Illinois at home in a super late kickoff on Saturday. Nebraska might be better this season, but 24.5 is an awful lot of points to lay with the Huskers against a team that showed the ability to run the ball and score points.

I'm thinking about betting on the Pokes to cover.

+24.5 seems odd.... I by no means am claiming a win but I expect this game to be way closer than this... I am not a betting man, but this seems like an easy bet...

With how we love to use up the clock, it seems 24.5 would only happen if:
a) we have a lot of turnovers
or
b) we aren't able to move the ball at all

Someone recommend a good sports betting site I usually only gamble in Vegas but I can't pass up laying money on this spread.

$220 on Wyoming with the points.
3-team money line parlay: Wyoming +1350, So. Carolina +210, Cal +250 for $100. Pays $15,532.

If you lose, but Wyoming covers, you're still up $100.

Or switch either So. Carolina or Cal for Purdue at home +210. It's an early game, so if you're heading into the late game with wins by Wyoming and Purdue under your belt, you could bet half of potential payout on SDSU and guarantee yourself about $7500. :thumb:

I know Craig Bohl. and HE IS GONNA WANT THIS GAME BADLY!!!

He might not have the talent yet to beat Nebraska, but I bet he has your boys up for this, because Bohl was treated like dogcrap in Lincoln & he will have his vengeance....

Did you just put the words "bet" and "Purdue" in the same sentence?? You sir are a risk taker, I wouldn't put my money anywhere near that dumpster fire this year.

I think the Nevada vs Notre dame game should be a good bet for Nevada to cover that 28 point spread as well.

Here's /r/CFB's discussion on the matchup, obviously filled with Husker fans:

Cincinnati didn't exactly burn down Tennessee-Martin and it's a homer for Purdue. Thing is, it's a long shot bet, minimal risk, maximum reward. Very easy to offset by adjusting betting units, but if 2 out of 3 come in, you can guarantee yourself money with a late hedge. Hell, just a $10 bet on that ticket would pay $1550. If Wyoming wins, and Purdue wins, you just bet $852 on SDSU and you're guaranteed to win at least $698.

There's also plenty of later games to claw back any losses as long as one bets judiciously...

Hoping it's Hill/Wick's coming out party with the O-line tomorrow! Would love to see us give Nebraska a taste of their old medicine on the ground. Can we get Hill 100 yards against the blackshirts? Allen needs to join in too on the ground and fire some more bullet TD's.

Go POKES!!!
