I will definitely take that bet Wyovanian. We can wager what seems to be a popular one on here to a good cause, so I propose the wounded warrior project and I will leave the amount up to you.
Okay, so the bet is, at the end of the season (both regular and post-, if any) six wins or less- I win, seven wins or more it's you, Yank'. I'll propose $500 and a signature TBD for the 2013-14 basketball season.

What say you?
Sounds good to me 500 it is

INTERNET FRIENDS!!!!! :D

Let's hear it for the Sunshine Pumpers! Lord knows we don't need anymore Decrepit ol' fans who live in the past. Even when it was only "two magical" seasons 87-88. But I find it interesting that a nobody Houston team took it to us 45-10, And let's not forget Ok. St. 62-14 trumping. Geese! The similarities.

1987 team lost 43-28 to a 3-7-1 Washington State team....and barely beat a 1-11 CSU team by 5 and a 4-6 Houston team by 2, too.

The 87-88 teams were good man, really good. It was a short lived stint of success, however, and the magnitude of that success I think has been inflated like an old fishing story over the years. Those teams had some close games and even some losses to not so great teams. They were no where near a national power, just like we are no where near a national power today.

But that 1987 squad did something no other Wyoming team could do. Beat BYU in Provo.

That's great! This team is the first team to win 4 straight Border Wars since the early 70s, what if they beat Boise in Boise this year? Don't think we've ever done that either.

We haven't beaten Boise State anywhere.

Well there ya go, if we pulled it off we could talk about the glory days in 2013 thirty years from now.

Wyonavian...you just lost 500 bucks.
Why on earth would you bet against Wyoming? Is that what real fans do, make bets about their own team, but hope for the worst? The Pokes will be going bowling for sure, then just need 1 more win to get to 7...very dumb bet.

Really? Let me check, nope, still there and we still have six games to play...

I don't bet with my heart. Betting has zero to do with loyalty.

I'll be perfectly happy losing this bet. If I win it, I'll be happy to have contributed to a good cause. It's a win-win from my POV...

Don't worry, he's made it very clear time and again that he's made of money.

I just got on here and read this thread.
Wyonation is a discussion and information board and has been likely the best message board in the MWC. State your opinions, but don't expect everyone to agree with you and don't attack others because they don't agree with you. This is a pretty liberal board, but there is a line you don't want to cross.

+1 And with that.....I think this discussion is pretty much done.

I used to enjoy this board. Too many personal attacks and uninformed opinions. I am surprised from reading this thread that some are unhappy with CDC. I was at the Nebraska game and I thought DC completely outcoached Pelini. I was actually very proud of our team that night. I remember the "good old days" back in the late 80's and even the 96 team. A lot has changed since then.

I believe it is a lot harder to recruit to Wyo. now than 25 years ago. Many more area schools are pouring money into facilities to compete for the best players. Boise state was not even on the map 25 years ago. Neither was Nevada or Utah state.

Neither Laramie or the school have changed that much in terms of size in the last 25 years. CSewe now has 35,000 students. Size matters. UW has about 13k students. That's not a lot compared to most D1 schools.

I fully expect us to go to a bowl game this year. I expect us to pound csewe Saturday for the 5th straight time. I think we are lucky to have DC. IMO, he is a brilliant offensive innovator. We have issues on defense. If it was easy to recruit great pass rushers and db's who run 4.4 40's, everyone would do it.

Regarding the New Mexico game: if Herron catches the td pass, it's 28-0 and the game is over. The coach calls the plays and then the players execute them. Or not. To the other old farts on this board (I include myself), the good old days are over. We have a good coach. I just hope he stays here.

I have a serious question for those on the fire DC bandwagon. Who do we get to come to UW for less than what DC is making and turn around a program that has gone through 20 years of bad decisions? We tried with Glenn and his pedigree...were did that get us? Did we so establish ourselves as a conference contender that DC has completely turned UW back into the Koenning-esque program that many of us are still having nightmares about?

Some would like to believe that this program has completely gone "South" under DC. I ask again, how far "North" do you really think we were in the first place?

Under DC, and I haven't looked this up yet, we have probably red-shirted more true freshmen than DCs past 3 predecessors have red-shirted...combined. He is actually building depth into a program that had something like 65-70 scholarship players when he arrived (ding me on the numbers...but, we were low). We have more depth on this year's team than we have had in a long time, and it gets deeper next year.

A lot of people like to point a specific games or specific events...I'm looking at the trend, and I really like what I see, especially for next year. Also, having Brett here gives us a leg up on getting Cade as well...how much of a coup for Wyoming Football would that be??

Getting Cade would be amazing. But if the Ducks offer he is going to Eugene. Wyo might be able to win the battle over the Beavers, but not the Ducks.

Do you think he's that good? Oregon has reached a status where they don't recruit now, they interview. Cade will have to be elite to end up at UO.

You have a very good point about UO and their recruiting process. But Cade has grown up a Duck fan. Not like all these other kids out there that claim to be Duck fans. Since Brett and Cades dad played there, Duck blood flows through his veins. He would take that offer any day I think.

I don't know how they feel about the Beavers though. Obviously the biggest rival to the Ducks, and he might take that because it is close to home, but maybe he doesn't want to play for the Beavers. Kind of like how I would have taken a d2 offer before I played for BYU. (Not that I was ever going to play college football, just using that as an example).
But at the same time, it could be kind of a "screw you for not offering me, I am going to the "dark side" to make you regret it".

Cade has to be elite, but if any of this talk about how he is going to be better is true, then he is elite.
Brett is elite, and even Chip Kelly said he regretted not offering Brett.
