the big 5

a lot of speculation and concern about the big 5 basically splitting off. saying the ncaa is handicapping their ability to run their organizations.

they want to pay their athletes, and maximize their bowl and tv payouts, basically.

there are two problems that I can see from a federal law standpoint. first is title 9

title nine states that women have to have the same opportunity that male athletes have. there would be big ramifications if the payouts were not equal to the males.

second, and this is a lot of grey area, but I believe that this would be the best attack on the big five with a strong lawyer team... the equal educational opporutunites act of 1974.

by creating a significant gap between where any athlete would want to play, they would create segregation especially in states like Wyoming. segregation between schools is the proper play in this lawsuit I think

in theory, it wouldn't be racial segregation, but athletic segregation. unless every school in the country started paying athletes on an equal pay scale, then there will be financial segregation, and completely against the constitution rights of fair and equal opportunites.
