WOW!!! As bad as we've been playing I really did not see this coming. Four quarterbacks??? WTF? Are you serious coach? And they were being rotated on the same possession.

I have never, ever seen that in my life and you want to know what is sad about it? All four QB's looked the same. They could have been the same person. They all played like they were afraid of their own shadow. Sween barely separated himself from the pack but just by inches. None of them looked like they could start for any other DI program in this conference or even the Sunbelt.

And it doesn't help matters when the damn receivers drop the ball or let it bounce off their chests into the other teams hands. Or when the line cannot sustain a block longer than 1.5 seconds. Or when we finally do get huge yardage only to have it called back because of a stupid-ass penalty. Or when the offensive coaching juggernaut calls a reverse on a third and long. Man, I could go on and on but I'm tired of this crap and tired of not defending our home turf. 7220 does not intimidate anyone anymore.

One more thing. Without naming any players specifically, because I do think they are working their asses off, I will have to finally admit that our talent level is not up to DI-A or FBS standards. How do I know this? Simple. If they were there is an outside possibility their talent could compensate and partially mask the ineptitude of our coaching staff. But it can't.

And as much as I'm hurting now, I will never advocate for UW to drop down to FCS. That makes my skin crawl and I get puke-like sick whenever I read or hear someone from WY talking about it.

Oh well, this only my firs rant, more to come later.

While I agree that was a horrible game, and that the revolving door at QB didn't work. I believe the QB's that were being rotated during a series were part of the game plan. It appeared that Hetrick must be the most mobile QB so they were bringing him in to try and run some option style plays, plus we had all the RB's in when he was in there (D-Mo, Seldon, and Terry).

We need to pick a QB and just go ride him a while. Personally I think Sween earned a shot a starting next week but who knows what Cole will decide to do. Of course maybe we would be better off just sticking D-Mo at QB and letting him run the offense. He had 114 yds rushing, and another 103 in kick-off return yards. HE seems to be the one bright spot on the offense right now.

I could rip and rant about the Pokes with a two page post dissecting every play yesterday, but it wouldn't do any good. I'll just give my opinion that I think the UW football program need to start over in a new direction.

Does anyone remember a quote by Glenn in his first year..."....we need some players..." Well here we are a few LONG years later and I don't believe we have any better talent than what Joe inherited.
Yesterday I think Bowling Green affirmed that. They were more physical and faster breaking to the ball. The clock is turning backwards to a dark age that I don't want to ever revisit again.
On a positive note...the alumni game was great. Seeing a lot of those "old" guys brought back some great memories. Hats off to Slater for organizing it and Ratliff for matching the funds raised. True Cowboys.

I remember the quote well and although we do have a handful of certified studs on this team, there are too many that just can't perform at this level. Most of the problems are speed related. We are slowwww. Even our vaunted defense was a step behind BG in almost every phase.

I was reading an article about TCU a few years back that was talking about how they recruited and evaluated players. One thing that still sticks out is how Patterson recruits running backs to play defensive ends. Hence players like Tommy Blake that may not have DE size but have monster speed and leg strength. And they could be even better this year without Blake.

And I agree wholeheartedly about the Alumni BB game. Slater's a top notch individual who was able to bring these players together for the benefit of Ollie. And I must say, even thought he didn't play the second half, just seeing Fennis on that floor and shooting the three gave me shivers man. Much slower but aren't we all.

Maybe next time we'll see some Reggie Fox and Robyn Davis.

I agree that we were a step slow. But why in the world when they have 4 or 5 wide outs do we still have 4 linebackers in? I would hope a wide receiver is faster than a line backer and yes they were. We should have put in another db. Our coaching is a complete joke. This basic stuff is learned in JR High.

In defense of Stutzreim's interception, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they were running a timing pattern on that play where the QB gets the ball and then counts one thousand one, one thousand two, etc. and then throws to a spot on the field where the receiver is supposed to be running to. I didn't see if the receiver got held or was just slow getting there. At any rate, the defender was there.

Glenn mentioned that exact play in his post game interview, though he didn't mention names, and said that they just need to get smarter as a team and know when to throw it away. I believe he said the the QB when asked about the throw said he was just trying to make a play. IMO and if I remember right there were 3 BG DB's in the area, so it probably was not the best place to "try and make a play"

My biggest problem is I look at this lineup and granted we aren't the fasted by any means, but we are much better than we play on Saturdays. Part of it is the team needs to Cowboy Up and make plays, the coaches can't be blamed for everything. However, I am starting to see a little indifference with the players on the sidelines and that worries me. If in fact Glenn is losing these guys then its going to be a long ride to the end of the season.
